Much better than expected
Ok so Shure make legendary and industry standard products from earbuds/monitors to Mikes.Initially I bought it for my daughter who has recorded some amazing tracks with it, then I bought this one for some voice over work I needed to do in a hurry and the studio was closed.best used with a pop filter but a genuinely stunning mic, Shure software is fairly east to use but is much better with Garageband (thank you daughter) and LogicproIn short great value, great product, use a pop filter

Useful and easy to operate
I have been pleasantly surprised by the quality and usefulness of this microphone - it’s sound quality is good and it’s very well matched with the MOTIV apps for audio and video. The initial impression of the device out of the box is that it’s a bit plastic and cheap but actually it’s quite robust and can even be attached to a stereo bar or a joby stand if need be. It also paired easily with a PC laptop and recording into a DAW was fine.It does only seem to be designed work with lightning and USB devices so it’s PC, iPhone and basic iPad - but that’s it’s purpose I guess.I’m quite happy having only paid a shade over 80 quid for it - it’s by no means the worst electret condenser about and is essentially it’s own mini audio interface to boot - the headphone out is excellent and the mic presets are not complex or hard to amend in the app.

Looks cool, sounds terrible
I have a really small Labtec mic for the past 20 years that cost no more than €10. The sound quality of the recording from the Shure MV5 is worse than the Labtec.Test performed using Windows Voice Recorder in Windows 10, no frills - just a direct comparison.Returning today.

broke within a year
The microphone was okay for voice recordings and online teaching (2-3 times a week). After another 10 months it started to malfunction, and I had to keep a constant eye on it - inconvenient during recording a complex script or teaching! It broke about a month later. So, overall seemed poor value for money.
