Efficient little can opener!
Edit: 7/17/22 just wanted to add my can opener is still going strong. I use it pretty regularly. 10/10 would reccomend. 😊 I'm probably the only 20 year old that specifically looks for "older style" kitchen appliances. This can opener reminds me of the one my parents have. It's also a black & decker and probably from the 80s. I loved it because all I had to do was push a button. I have been using a handheld can opener since I moved away because it was the cheapest option, but after spending 20 minutes struggling to get it to work right and open up a can after maybe 5 good uses gave up and ordered an electric one. I love this. Super easy to use and clean. I also like how it doesn't take up a lot of space on my counter and how the cord can be hidden up inside of it. Also like the bottle opener! I didn't realize it came with one.

Works well
After perusing all the reviews of competing can openers, this one got the nod. It's good. Pop the can under the levered top piece and press. The can is grabbed by the magnet and turns to open. The cord can be stored underneath if you don't want to leave it plugged in. If you have hand problems (I'm apparently getting two kinds of annoyances now that I'm a senior citizen, carpal tunnel and arthritis) then this helps. My other can openers that are manual work, but can be painful some days. (PS if your manual opener seems to stop working, clean the blade with an old toothbrush. The accumulated gum from labels and gunk from the can usually are the problem.)

Not good for heavy cans
Works well except for heavier cans. You will need to support the bottom of the can with you hand or it will fall off and spill the contents of the can all over the counter.

Nice and tall and easy to use.
Very sturdy can opener. Well made and easy to use. My wife does not have much strength in her hands, yet she finds this opener easy to load and to operate. We replaced our Oster because it was not. This opener is tall and will open tall and oversized cans as well. like cans of peppers or sweet yams. Magnet works great and catches the can top each time and the opener holds the can in place as well. It came with a handy dandy bottle/ring pull soda opener as well. A nice little extra gift. I recommend and would give this as a gift. Even to a family member. LOL..

Still good product
I had a B&D can opener for many years and it finally died of old age. I am so glad I stuck with this proven product and was happy to see B&D still makes a good product. It stands secure and has nice pleasant 'lines' and is very easy to use and clean. The only slightly negative thing I can say, if I have to, is that the bottle opener goes into a 'pocket' at the top of the back and sticks up higher than the body. Since I don't love 'the look', and never use a bottle opener, I will just keep that piece in a drawer. No big deal. 'Still glad I chose B$D.

Not easy to use
I bought this for my 78 year old mother a year ago, I was trying to find something in white and that wasn’t Hamilton-Beach. Well since then I’ve decided to write a review for her. She hates it, but is trying to live with it. Lining up the can to be open is hit or miss. Sometimes it takes a 3-5 attempts for it to finally take and latch on to do it’s thing. It’s even harder with cans of tuna that are a lot wider. I’ve wrestled with it myself, sometimes like magic it literally takes the can from you and opens it. There was a can one time that had a small dent in the edge of the lid and it wouldn’t turn past it. Other times I’m in the same boat as my mother and struggle to get it to connect and work. Her old Hamilton-Beach one was never like this. Probably will by another one soon.

The perfect budget can opener!
Our old can opener was dying and it was time to buy a new one so I went looking online at all the new can openers and found a disappointing number of crappy new can openers with bad reviews. It was so hard to find a budget model can opener that didn't have some bad reviews, I got to looking at some older models and found this mostly high rated Black and Decker well priced can opener. My mom absolutely loves this can opener! It works so well, and we use it almost daily, we've had no problems with it, it's very sturdy, it doesn't tip over easily, the arm is easily detachable but also very sturdy, so many of the new models have rickety arms that break right away, this one is sturdy- although it's plastic, it looks pretty good too. Just an all around great can opener, that actually works and doesn't break.

POOR DESIGN
I really dislike this can opener! I don’t know who designed it, but they need to go back to the drawing board. It does not latch on to the cans and even when it does after multiple tries (and several expletives) it peals off the paper on the can and leaves scary serrated edges! I’m back to using my old Black & Decker model and the only reason I ordered the new one is because the magnetic arm broke off of the old one and it works perfectly fine. Sometimes you shouldn’t try and change a good thing! If I can’t return this new one, it’s going in the garbage.
