Uyghur: An Intermediate Textbook Bilingual Edition

This is an excellent textbook for the intermediate Uyghur learner. More than that, as the only complete Uyghur intermediate textbook, it is a sorely needed resource for the Uyghur learner who has already worked through the beginner Uyghur textbooks and is looking for something more. It is also extremely useful for students seeking to learn more about Uyghur culture and Xinjiang as each chapter is filled with useful information about important figures in Uyghur history, cultural customs, and facts about Xinjiang. I especially liked how this cultural information is updated for the internet age--for example, how does one begin and end an email in Uyghur? In this sense, it is great for the Uyghur learner who is planning soon to go to Xinjiang to study--I certainly wish it had been published before I went!The audio-visual materials are also great as most of them were recorded in Xinjiang and have Uyghurs speaking in everyday situations and speaking a range of dialects and accents.I hope the authors publish an Advanced Textbook soon!

The book itself is really detailed, but without the supplemental CD materials is really hard, or impossible to use. For teachers it's leading through in every detail, but also excercises help along the path. Not an usual book, because it is detailing out every bit to understand the aspects, and also teaching uyghur culturer, and the arabic alphabet. That part is key to understand, and if that is hard to understand, skip this book. However, if you learn how to read kona yeziq, every page will support your learning curve.

Cette méthode a un prix conséquent, c'est vrai mais c'est vraiment une méthode complète, y compris CD-rom avec vidéos, 2000 mots de vocabulaire, fiches de grammaires, exercices complets et variés y compris en rédaction. Si on suit cette méthode, on ressort avec un très bon niveau de ouïghour, normalement.
