Q: What is the stand material? Plastic? Metal?

The part that holds your book is plastic (black), the stand is metal (silver).

Q: Is it firm enough to write on it too? (ie. write in a textbook) Or will the force of my hand push the apparatus backwards

I have neck stiffness but enjoy crossword puzzles. Bending my head down causes discomfort. I sit on the couch and its on a wood floor. Would this allow me to write words but keep my head in the correct position.

Q: Is it strong enough to hold a book so that I can read lying down?

For a book of 2,5 kg maximum there is no problem you can read lying down. Lecco book holder mantains the book in a good position.

Q: Can I use it for reading medical books with measure like 11.5" length X 8.5" wisthX2.0" depth ?

The closest book I have to these dimensions is 11"x8.75"x2.25". The short form of the answer is that the book is too heavy. Also the 11" height seems to be close to or at the height limit.Too heavy meant that book stand leans to the side. The test was made on carpet. Trial on a hard surface might have different results.I also unsuccessfully tried the book in the Levo book stand. It was quite difficult to strap the book in, and if the book was opened toward the front or back of the book, the back-board that held the book tilted much more than the Levo book holder.
