Q: Does this item include the adapter plate, the fan, and everything needed for the large big green egg ?

Yes. It shows it in the last picture. We got this and didnt need anything else

Q: Will it alert you when you need to add more fuel to the smoker?

You'll see how the display kind of blinks when the fan is blowing. We call this the display warble. If you count how many times it blinks, it will tell you what percentage the fan is blowing. For example, if it blinks twice, pauses, blinks twice, pauses, etc, then you know it's blowing at 20%. So if you're smoker is going for a while, and you start to notice the fan output creeping up to 80, 90, 100% and the temperature is starting to drop, that is an indication that you are running out of fuel.

Q: Is this unit compatable for an offset barel type smoker ?

No, it is not. We have kits that are compatible but they are not available on the Amazon Marketplace at this time.
