Make sure that the surface you mount this on helps maintain suction!
This is definitely the answer for putting on and taking off compression stockings. The suction device on the bottom of the post is iffy on some surfaces when you mount it to get the stocking and the latex sleeve set up on it. Make sure that the surface can help the suction cup on the bottom of the post to maintain a secure mounting point before even putting the compression stocking over it or the latex rubber sleeve. Besides that, this definitely makes donning and doffing compression stockings much easier than the manual way. Definitely worth every penny as it saves me a lot of frustration! If you have poor circulation from either venous insufficiency or lymphedema and are using medically prescribed compression stockings, this will save you a lot of frustration and hassle and I highly recommend it!

Simplified my compression-stocking life :-)
Just as other posts have stated, there is definitely a learning curve to this product, but once mastered, it makes the chore of wearing compression stockings SO much easier and faster, both for doffing and donning. Once purchased, it is wise to watch the online videos or the DVD that comes with the product several times and PRACTICE several times before trying it on the legs, paying special attention to the placement of the heel and the top of the stocking on the "donut." Just as other posts have stated, there is definitely a learning curve to this product, but once mastered, it makes the chore of wearing compression stockings SO much easier and faster, both for doffing and donning. Once purchased, it is wise to watch the online videos or the DVD that comes with the product several times and PRACTICE several times before trying it on the legs, paying special attention to the placement of the heel and the top of the stocking on the "donut." The video from the manufacturer says gloves are not needed, but I had a new pair of the blue- palmed gardening gloves from Lowes/Home Depot on hand and have found them VERY helpful since that “donut” is a slippery little fella! Maybe I will eventually get so I don't need them, but for right now, I use them. And, the landing strip also is most helpful since I can't reach my foot at all. The tower suctions fine to the smooth vanity top, but not to the hardwood floor. It is easier to use when suctioned, but is manageable between the knees and/or holding it down with the chest. Also, I bought a second "donut" to use so I can leave the stocking on the "donut" since I only wash my stockings every other day and when doffed, the stocking is all set to be donned again. Or when I am in a hurry to get going the next morning to an early appointment, I put a fresh stocking on each of the "donuts" so it is a quick donning in the morning. The Amazon price on this complete set is wonderful. I just bought this set for my sister who has been struggling with her compression thigh highs for several years.

It works, and is fun to use!
It works amazingly well. No more struggles - works reliably and consistently every time. I got the combo pack and it's well worth the money. The donut-shaped part is also useful on its own, and when we travel I leave the other part at home.

Combine with gloves!
I bought this device to help my father put his compression socks on. He has trouble reaching his feet, so so far this device has only helped me help him put his compression socks on. Of note: my father can definitely put on his own regular socks with a soft sock aid. There is a steep learning curve with the doff n donner. "Doffing" was pretty self explanatory, but donning, I had to watch the video a few times. It makes the whole job faster for sure, but there are spots where I have trouble. My father puts the foot being "socked" on an ottoman and when I roll the doff n donner sock onto his foot, the part where I have to get it over his heel takes a lot of strength! Also he has to lift his foot in the air, so I can use two hands to push it over his heel. One hand to hold up his leg/foot and one to push the doff n donner over the heel simply doesn't work for me. His compression socks have toes and are 20-30mmHg. At first, I would have to unroll the sock and simply start over, but now, I usually get the setup correct. I definitely would buy it again, as it shaves 30-50% off the time it took to put the compression socks on with gloves. *****update***** I've finally realized that the best method of donning and doffing is to keep one jobst glove on my hand. This gives me enough grip so the sleeve doesn't squeeze out of my hand when I'm trying to get it over the heel! My other issue which I still have not solved is the suction cup. It's hard to find a perfectly smooth surface for the suction to work. I've considered trying to open up the base to add some weight, or somehow attaching the base to a board with screws, but those are beyond my modest capabilities. Trying to hold the thing still in my lap between my knees has left me with a fat lip and other bashings. I cannot stick it to a wood or tile floor. It will stick a short time on a nearby wood topped table, but often by the time we are working on the 2nd foot I have to re-do the little lever to make it stick. I have cleaned all surfaces and the device itself thoroughly with winded as another reviewer suggested. Nothing works. The kitchen table works, but I'd have to bring the ottoman and arm chair into the kitchen everyday. There has to be a better solution!
