Suited for PC playback
This little drive is amazing for PC use. Don't try to use on your TV though. It can only buffer a few hundred MB of DVD quality content on playback. This is better suited for PC.

Perfect for your archiving needs! Works with PS3 Discs.
If you're looking for a Blu-Ray computer drive to use to backup all of your media, this little guy will really help! This player is very amazing. Not only can you play Blu-Rays on your computer (which is pretty cool itself) you can also use various software to do things (like backup the contentsof a movie disc [for personal use]), and even backup Playstation 3 Discs to use with RPCS3, a PS3 emulator. The included software is pretty good, you don't have to deal with installing libraries for VLC, which is definitely a plus! There is also some other optional bundled software included on the disc, including a DVD maker that I've been trying to find a free, no exceptions one for a while now.You can backup your Blu-Ray movies with this and a piece of software called MakeMKV, and it's just as simple as inserting a Blu-Ray, selecting the disc, select a directory for the videos to be located in, and press the Make MKV button. After that, it should work fine in VLC.As I mentioned before, this drive is one of the few Blu-Ray drives that supports reading Playstation 3 discs. It's a very good option if tou want to legally rip your Playstation 3 discs without a modded PS3. I don't want to go too in-depth (even though I kind of right now 🫤) about how to rip these discs, but a simple Google search will get you there.I haven't tried writing a Blu-Ray disc yet, but once I do, this part will be replaced. There was only one thing I didn't care about the drive: but don't worry, it's not a biggie. I got the Blu-Ray drive came shipped in the original box, no outer box or sleeve to protect it, but besides that, it's great. So, if you're looking for a semi-afdordable drive that supports 4k Blu-Rays, this is perfect.

Super loud
Very loud, also there is no way to directly play back 4k Blu-ray on PC anymore. Not the fault of this drive though

This is the one
It's *really* hard to get a UHD blu-ray drive to actually *play* a UHD blu-ray in windows. There's all sorts of stupid hardware requirements that rely on hardware that isn't even being made anymore, for example. I bought 3 different drives before finding one that actually worked. That one, was this drive. And look, it didn't work straight out of the box; if you're looking for a way to get UHD blu-rays to play straight out of the box, go buy a player and just get a much cheaper regular blu-ray drive for your computer. But, most of the other drives I tried couldn't be made to work *at all.* This one, at least the version I got when I bought it, could be manipulated to properly play UHD blu-rays and now I'm golden.Oh, also, you need both USB plugs plugged in, it does that for power, it's not like an optional thing.

listing contains numerous false statements
This is NOT usb 3.0 compatible. The drive has a micro-b usb and comes with a split cable that has two usb 2.0 connectors on it that are required to provide enough power and speed to actually read a UHD disc. This means that regardless of the presence of USB 3.0 ports on your computer this will never be able to fully utilize those ports. Calling that compatible is like calling your feet compatible with clown shoes. sure you might be able to walk in them but it isn't really what anyone would call a good experience. The only difference between this drive and the one LG started selling 9 years ago is the software on it has been flashed with UHD compatibility. that is it. Nothing different physically and if you are planning to use this for storage discs do not bother as the write speed will leave you waiting for days at the sad 15 MBps that it caps out at. You can get a much faster drive for a third of the money and be better off.

Does Everything I Want and More!
I bought this seven months ago in October 2020 and it's been great so far. I am a Mac user and I am able to rip Blu-rays with MakeMKV, I have done DVD and Blu-ray authoring (with a separate application, not the included ones because they’re PC only) and I’ve burned dual-layer Blu-ray discs and dual-layer DVDs. It should also work for triple layer discs such as 100GB Blu-rays, but I’ve not tested triple layer discs, only dual layer. When I’m burning discs, it’s remarkably quiet; at least, I can’t hear it over my MacBook Pro fan unlike other drives I’ve had. I love that this drive has a pop-out disc tray and a pinhole ejector. When discs periodically gets stuck inside, you can stick a pin in the hole and get the disc tray to manually open.It plays all of my commercial 1080p Blu-ray movies. I don’t own any 4K Blu-ray movies nor do I have a computer monitor that supports 3D video, so I can’t speak on the 3D & UHD capabilities of the drive.Software:Mac Users- We’re on Our OwnI primarily use the Mac and I am aware that the included Cyberlink software is several years old and works on the PC only. Mac users don’t need any extra software to rip with MakeMKV, but you will need to go find your own software to play Blu-ray movies such as MacGo Blu-ray Player and you’ll likewise need to hunt down a decent Blu-ray authoring software (Roxio Toast 19 Pro is rubbish but it can potentially get the job done as long as you use Verbatim discs only).PC Users- The Software is Old but AdequatePowerDVD 14 is old but it does exactly what it says on the tin- it plays Blu-rays. Power2Go 8 does CD/DVD authoring and data CD/DVD burning, but it only burns data Blu-rays, it doesn’t do Blu-ray authoring, which is unfortunate. If you’re a PC user that wants to do Blu-ray authoring, you’re up the creek without a paddle using the outdated bundled software that comes with this drive. Power2Go 11 and newer allegedly does Blu-ray authoring.Verdict: This Drive is AmazingAll in all, I’m very happy with the drive. It’s been quite reliable. Mac users shouldn’t count on utilizing the software, but the drive itself is capable of doing literally anything- writing dual and triple layer discs, playing UHD, 3D, etc. This Blu-ray drive has earned its 5 stars.
