Q: How do I change the length? I see it moves, but I don't see how to lock it in.

Simply push it in until it "clicks" into place and then rotate the length adjustment ring.

Q: I still have no idea how to use this thing. someone gave a response but it made no sense. how do i adjust the length? i need specific answers.

The length adjustment is on the clipper itself. The comb only adjusts when attached to the clipper.

Q: Is this the one that says 1 to 5?

This is a nearly exact replacement for what's called the Small Comb in my rather old clipper set. That's the one that was numbered 1-5. The main differences I see are the numbers and this comb is rigid, while the original was hinged. Barber clipper combs in the US are measured in (roughly) eights of an inch. Elsewhere they are measured in millimeters. An eight of an inch is not quite equal to three milimeters, but close enough. This comb will work as replacement for the 1-6 comb, as long as you remember to multiply the setting you want by three. It remains to be seen if the missing hinge has any effect on the quality of the cut.
