VENOM UNLEASHED VOL. 1

Book was in great shape despite being used, color quality is great. The three stories are essential reading for the King in Black and Absolute Carnage arcs of Donnie Cats Venom saga. Particularly Web of Ve-Nam' which sets up characters that appear all through the arc. Pick it up as a companion for the Cates run, you won't be disappointed by the small setup stories.

I really like this. If you really like this too then I would definitely suggest the follow up to this book absolute carnage because it was amazing. Both books are great and carnage is awesome!

There are four stories contained in this volume. This volume does not contain Cult of Carnage, but instead Funeral Pyre. All four stories were good. If you've been reading Donny Cates' Venom or Absolute Carnage, I would check this book out. These stories tie-in/lead up to those books. The writing and art is different for every issue, but there isn't anything bad with them.

So far I have been really enjoying Donny Cates run on Venom and I'm excited to see what he does in Absolute Carnage. This TPB collets Web of Venom: Ve’Nam #1, Carnage Born #1, Venom Unleashed #1, and Funeral Pyre #1... sorry no Cult of Carnage in this collection. Overall, I liked these one-shot stories. Ve'Nam is a great story that includes NIck Fury and Wolverine tracking down symbiotes in Vietnam. Carnage Born gives us a full story of how Carnage came back. Venom Unleashed gives us more backstory to how Carnage is gaining power and I love how the Venom symbiote becomes a dog when it is not attached to Eddie. Funeral Pyre is definitely the weakest story, that has to do with Mania but has some really great gory artwork. All in all this is a great collection of one shots that help set up whats to come in Absolute Carnage. If you have been a fan of Donny Cates run on Venom I highly recommend you pick this trade up.

I honestly couldn’t lick my favorite, as they’re all equally good. I’ll go with the Cullen Bunn story, as the follow-up Scream series was prematurely cancelled, which was a REAL shame, as I loved it. Wasn’t written by Bunn, but still a worthy follow up to his three-issue mini-series tie-in to Absolute Carnage. Highly recommend this book to anyone interested in not only Cates’ Venom run, but Absolute Carnage as a whole. Wish they could have added the Carnage Born one-shot tho….

Cult of Carnage is not included in the tpb as advertised. Instead, you get Funeral Pyre. I really wanted to read the Cult of Carnage book because it's referenced in the Absolute Carnage event.

I love everything Donny Cates has written so far and I am currently building my collection of his Venom series as well as the absolute Carnage event. Well the main reason I got this book was for the Cult of Carnage story and as other comments will tell you it’s not included. So yeah great book, great writer, bad info.
