Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters Thogarihunkal EstateHSD (Medium Roast) - 250 Gm (Moka Pot)

1) Quite delicious, the light bitterness ending in a long lasting sweet heavy mouthfeel. Creates some crema in my moka pot, the emission of carbon dioxide indicates its a fresh roast. I have always bought coffee from Blue Tokai. Till now nachammai is my favourite , thogarihunkal comes a close second. Bibi plantation, ms estate organic and monsoon malabar are on my next buy list.2) I was accidentally delivered the wrong grind, whereas i wanted whole beans. I merely pointed it out to them. But what i never expected is an email stating that a fresh packet of whole beans is again being roasted and was to be delivered asap. Received the freshly roasted beans within two days (and i stay nearly 1500 km away). Now, that's some top priority delivery.

First of all I am really impressed by the packaging and seeing my name certainly adds an extra personal touch. I am very happy with the quality of the coffee. Flavor is exactly what is the written in the description which is vanilla and strong hint of Citrus with moderate bitterness. Select something else if you prefer classic chocolaty flavor. I brew my coffee with the classic Hario V40 which really enhances the depth of the coffee aroma. Blue Tokai website has all the different variety of coffee which you can order, I wish that they make those available on amazon as well.

I am not sure if it is 100% arabica coffee without any additions. I say so because the color of the brew is brownish rather than dark brown - black. Also, I have to add more than the usual standard measure and brew longer to get any intensity out of it.As for the flavor, I really couldn't discern much. Its more of a medium-dark roast and has no outright character or significant standout notes. Basically, its bland and very uninspiring. I would avoid this brand outright as most of their coffee blends seem to be adulterated.

Oh boy where do I begin? This is really one of the best coffees I have had! I have been pulling my espresso shots and making lattes at home from last 5 years. After staying for so long in the US and moving back to India couple of months back, I was really not sure where I would get freshly roasted, superior quality arabica beans in India. The ones you get in some stores are stale and roasted months back. Blue Tokai coffee beans are roasted after you place an order with them and they deliver them right away! First, the shot I pulled had a rich aroma and a fantastically balanced flavor. The roast level (medium) was just absolutely perfect! Second, the way they pack their beans and write “specially roasted for xyz (customer’s name)” is just pleasing! I would probably subscribe to their supply of beans! I am really blown away by the freshness and flavor of this particular roast “Thogarihunkal Estate HSD”. I could get the notes of blueberries after pulling the shot and of apricot before grinding the beans. Overall a fantastic experience with these beans! Highly recommended for espresso and specialty coffee beverages lovers!

It has many flavours like almond and citrus which I am not typically found of in my coffee. Also so this was a mild roast coffee bean. All in all it is a decent coffee flavour however not their best. Do not take this negative review otherwise because the quality of the product is superlative.

The flavour was nice. I had consumed the same coffee before by grinding it myself. This time I decided to order a packet of pre ground because my grinder was out of order. The grounds for 'Coffee Filter' is just much finer than it should be. It is more suitable as a chemex grind than a V60 or Melita grind. On a V60, I'm used to getting the recommended 3:30 brew time when grinding myself however, with this grind I'm getting brew at 4:30, which is slightly over extracted.

Arrived on time. Stylish designer packaging with self seal. The goodness stops there. One word to describe taste: bland! And almost no aroma. I hands grind my coffee beans for a french press, measuring beans and water ratio. This has got to be the least impressive cup to come out of the press... the only thing I've changed is the beans.
