Halloween (2018) [Blu-ray]

Love this movie

Great film

Excluding the gore, it was Jamie Lee Curtis showing Laurie's trauma that made this film more accessible. Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends sounds more promising

This film follows several of the main characters from the original film, and takes place like 20 years later or something follows on from the events from the original film. It's supposed to be a slasher film but it is pretty tame by today's standers they don't have much slashing going on in this film, the Dr Loomis character is played by Malcom McDowell, which I think he didn't fit the part well in this film. Donald Pleasance played the part much better in the original film and several of it's other sequels in the original series of Halloween films. This is probably a Halloween film for the under 25s.The plot is much more slower and this film features a lot of character driven moments. Jamie Lee Curtis returns to reprise her role from the original Halloween film. In the climatic fight between her and Michael Myers it is filmed in a fairly average way. They should of got John Carpenter to direct it ,it would be interesting to see if they can entice John Carpenter to direct a new Halloween film. Jamie Lee Curtis plays the part well though that made her famous in the original Halloween film in the late 1970s.

Really. Don’t you think we’ve had enough of these now. There’s only one that’s any good the 1978 original. Don’t waste your time watching this laborious piece of celluloid.

Carpenter's original 1978 film is by far the best and all the subsequent sequels are generally poor or dire including this one. Curtis is now a granny who has stocked up on weapons and made her house into a potential trap for Michael Myers as she always knew he'd come back for her even though he should after over 30 years be nearly a grandad's age too. Of course, he escapes from the prison he is in when conveniently and unnecessarily getting transported to somewhere else. Then he goes on the rampage as it's Halloween and his serial killing only happens on said date. After a number of random killings, he seeks out Curtis and there is some involvment with her daughter and granddaughter but who cares just avoid this tripe. The only reason it doesn't get a 1 star is because it is reasonably atmospheric and well filmed with the same haunting theme tune from the original classic.

I loved all Halloween films, so this one raised sharply to the top. If you like Halloween and would like to see another timeline that goes right back to the original feel of Halloween get this film! Trust me you will like it.

Diretto con maestria da David Gordon Green e con Jamie Lee Curtis che riprende il suo ruolo di Laurie Strode, questa nuova iterazione della saga Halloween offre una nuova dose di suspense, tensione e puro terrore. Uno dei punti di forza del film è il modo in cui riesce a bilanciare abilmente l'omaggio al classico originale con una storia fresca e contemporanea. Il regista Green ha dimostrato grande rispetto per l'opera di Carpenter, mantenendo intatta l'atmosfera inquietante e la minacciosa presenza di Michael Myers. Allo stesso tempo, ha saputo reinventare il personaggio di Laurie Strode come una donna forte e determinata, ancora tormentata dagli eventi passati ma pronta a combattere. Jamie Lee Curtis offre un'altra performance memorabile nel ruolo di Laurie Strode. La sua interpretazione è piena di grinta e di una determinazione palpabile nel proteggere se stessa e la sua famiglia da Michael Myers. Curtis riesce a trasmettere un senso di vulnerabilità e forza allo stesso tempo, rendendo Laurie un personaggio che ci fa tifare per lei e con cui ci identifichiamo. La tensione e l'ansia si accumulano progressivamente nel corso del film, grazie a una regia attenta e a un montaggio serrato. Le sequenze di suspense sono efficaci e spesso accompagnate da colpi di scena imprevedibili, che tengono lo spettatore sul bordo del proprio sedile. Inoltre, la colonna sonora di John Carpenter, rivisitata e ampliata, contribuisce a creare un'atmosfera sinistra e a sottolineare i momenti più intensi del film. Il film si distingue anche per le sue scene di violenza e sangue, che sono presenti in modo coerente con il tono generale della storia. Questi momenti di orrore visivo sono ben realizzati e servono a sottolineare la minaccia costante di Michael Myers, il quale dimostra di essere ancora un nemico implacabile e spietato. Anyone who is a fan of the Halloween franchise knows that the various sequels have ranged from good, to decent, to absolute garbage. And, of course, the sequel that wasn't, Halloween 3. I think everyone has slightly different ideas about which sequels fall into what categories, but for me Halloween 6 and 8 fall into the absolute garbage category (although I think 6 had some potential as a story, it was just executed horribly and suffered massive rewrites and the death of Donald Pleasance), and Halloween 4 and H20 fall within the good category. This sequel is a complete reboot of the series, acknowledging that only the original movie existed, and is almost a "what if" scenario, opinening what if Michael had been caught at the end of the first movie, and held in Smith's Grove for 40-years. It was written by David Gordon Green, Jeff Fradley, Danny McBride, mostly known for the comedy genre, directed by David Gordon Green, and bringing back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. It also brought John Carpenter back into the fold as executive producer and co-composer. Die-hard Halloween nerds will know that his name was included on many of the other sequels but he never had anything to do with them, just getting royalty rights. He famously never wanted the movie to go any farther than the first one, and if there was going to be a franchise he wanted it to be like Season of the Witch, without the Michael Myers character. Curtis, aside from playing Laurie, was also an executive producer on the movie. Of course, her character was killed off in Halloween 8, hence the need for the total reboot. In this version, Laurie is basically a basket-case who is estranged from her daughter ( played by Judy Greer) and granddaughter (played by Andi Matichak) and has been readying herself for 40-years for Michael to come back. She lives alone in the woods in what can only be described as a compound with lots of surveillance and guns. Curtis does a great job with this version of the character and does a believable portrayal of what she would be like if she never moved on from the events of that night. While the movie does pretend that the other sequels and remakes never existed, it does have a lot of easter eggs that do pay homage to the original movie and some things that were clearly inspired by the other sequels, including the last shot of the movie. It does a good job either as an end to the franchise or as a set up to further movies. Given that it did well enough at the box office and got pretty good reviews it may spawn other movies down the road and was clearly left open-ended enough to do so. For those who get the 4k blu-ray, the movie looks and sounds great as you would expect. It, of course, includes the UHD blu-ray and a regular blu-ray version. The UHD has both the movie and the extras, which include about 12 minutes of deleted scenes, and then several short behind the scenes and making-of featurettes. Probably between a half hour' and 45 minutes worth of material. One thing that was not included which would have been nice, is a commentary track on the movie. I would have liked to hear the writers, director, Curtis, and Carpenter do a commentary on the movie. But what was included was very good. While I cannot say that everyone, including fans of the franchise is going to like it, but I do think it is worth checking out.

Llegó super rápido, como siempre Amazon es el mejor; la película trae el Blu-ray, DVD y en versión digital; el DVD es región uno por lo qué si tu reproductor Blu-ray es hecho aquí en México, no leerá el DVD, en cuanto al Blu-ray la imagen y el audio es, muy bueno, tiene escenas qué quitaron, y muchos extras más; trae slipcover y está genial la máscara tiene el relieve de cada parte; no duden en comprarla, es una gran película.
