Q: Would it make sense to use two of these hoists, in conjunction, on each end of my 60-lb kayak? I like the sturdier 250-lb rating.

I don't know how long your kayak is, but generally, you don't want to hang a kayak from its ends. Depending on the variation in temperature during storage, you can warp or damage your kayak. You're much better with slings about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way in from the ends to hang it. You better distribute the forces on it that way and avoid stressing the material. Other than how you attach, these hoists would be more than sufficient to raise it into storage position and hold it there until you need it. I would also recommend a cockpit cover so that spiders bugs and general dust and dirt don't build up inside during storage.

Q: Can this lift a ride mower?.

The device has a 250 lb. load limit which should not be exceeded for safety reasons and has a 2-1 lifting ratio: meaning that you would have to lift a load weight of 125 lb pulling on the single rope at the maximum load limit of 250 lb. I would guess that even a small riding mower, if you were lifting its entire weight would be in excess of 250lb. therefore I wouldn't advise using this.

The rope supplied is a braided nylon. 33 feet would be needed for an 11 foot set up.

Q: Vacationing in 2ond floor condo w outside stairs. Would this work for hoisting suitcases and bags?

Yes but only if there's a window in easy reach of a heavy duty hook in the outside wall. You need somewhere to hang the hoist wherethe weight of the suitcase won't pull the hook out of the wall.
