I LIKED IT!!
Margaret MacKinnon has been sent to the Court of Kings James at Whitehall by her father to find a husband. Margret know has Meg needs a husband who can help her and her brother lead there Clan once there father dies. Margaret's brother heir to her father the Chieftain of the Clan is mentally challenged. Megs choice of husband must be able to help lead her clan without wanting to over thrown her brother.Alex MacLeod has been sent to the Court of King James to spy for his brother Rory and the other Highland Chiefs. They know King James has a plan to war against his own people in the Highlands. Kings James favors the Lowlanders and believes the Highlanders are a bunch of ruffian thugs not worthy to lead or run there own part of Scotland.Meg in introduced to Alex by her mother Rosalind. The two have a immediate attraction but they have at cross purposes. Alex is not looking to marry at this time and Meg is determined to have him. Who will win the war of wills is what this story is about. The story has a steady pace, is very sensual. All the characters are very likable except the villains ofcourse, who aren't supposed to be liked. The story and back story of each character is very well written. It just took to long for the Alex and Meg to really get together and buy the time they do the story is over. No epilog and the ending seemed rushed. However I still Highly Recommend Highlander Unmasked!!Reading Progress01/03 marked as: read01/03 marked as: to-read01/10 marked as: read.Post a comment

Excellent
This book is excellent as the previous one. I thought I would be disappointed after reading the first one, but Alex was an attractive character enough to compel me to read it. The stories are similar in the sense of the relationship of the McLeods and their romantic partners. A constant inner struggle as to whether love or not love, of allowing their feelings just flow or hold them back because of their duties against their needs, and the two women also seem similar in their personalities and fearless attitude, sometimes on the brink of annoying me. In this book Meg's restlessness put Alex and his mission at risk so many times that I would have strangled her. She was supposed to be intelligent, strong, but made so many mistakes that made her unbearable at times! Though I have to admit that her last attempt to help Alex added a lot of suspense, anxiety and especially breathtaking and powerful romance and love.On the other side, too many sex scenes that took too many pages of the book and made it longer to read and get to the end of the story. Were they necessary? In my opinion, the story would have been better without so much detailed explicit scenes. Perhaps there are readers that seek these steamy moments, not my case, i tend to skip them, not because I am a prude but because I look for the plot to attract me so much to keep it reading non-stop!

audio review
Highlander Unmasked is the second in the MacLeods of Skye series by Monica McCarty. Native London actor Antony Ferguson once again delivers a five star performance for this four star book. Deep masculine voices and well performed female timbres make this 11 1/2 hour audiobook a pleasure to listen to and kept me well entertained during a long road trip. This book takes place about 3 years after the events in Highlander Untamed and further develops the brother of the principal character in that book. Once again loosely based on actual historical events, Alex MacLeod is on a secret mission to thwart King James' plan to quell the Scottish highlands by settling the Isles with lowlanders who were more supportive of James. McCarty makes a good effort to weave the historical events into a sizzling romance with well developed protagonists and antagonists that are not as well fleshed out but who bring good tension and suspense to the story. While at court in Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Alex MacLeod searches for information concerning the king's plans while Meg Mackinnon is at court to find a husband. Their attraction challenges Alex to stay true to his mission and captivates Meg to unmask the secrets of the man who fascinates her.I highly recommend the well performed audiobook version of this book.

Alex'sundercover mission is nearing an end and is more dangerous than ever. But Alex's mission may be compromised by the lovely Meg Mackinnon. When he saved Meg from bandits, Alex never imagined he'd see heragain. Unfortunately for Alex's plan, Meg is at court also. Meg issearching for a strong husband to lead her clan. As a mercenary, Alexcannot be considered as a husband. Although Meg knows Alex isn'tsuitable, she cannot stop thinking about him. When Meg realizes Alexis not what he seems, she dares him to reveal his true self despitethe risks to them both.I had a horrible crush on Alex from Highlander Untamed. I just knewhe'd be too delicious for words. He is! Virile, strong and handsome,I wanted to lick him all over. I can totally understand why Meg foundhim irresistible. I adore these Highlanders and want one of my own!Monica McCarty's Highlander Unmasked is chock full of suspense, political intrigue, passion, and romance. Better than first book
This had some good characters. Meg needs a husband to help her mentally disabled brother be a clan leader to replace her sick father. I liked it and felt the chemistry between the two but thought the story needed more intrigue. I was able to put it down.

Missing highland guard series
Think I must be Highlandered out. The highland guard series was fantastic but I'm not enjoying these so much. Seems very repetitive...Yes I know they each had their duty to their clan, you only need to tell me once, I'll understand, and apparently she was very beautiful and he very handsome. Found myself skipping pages until there was some dialect which there wasn't much of.
