Eclipse IDE Pocket Guide: Using the Full-Featured IDE

Good for what it was.

Have you feared that the eclipse IDE could outsmart you by hiding all its secrets and functions for ever hiding below the underskirts of its extensive documentation? Just kidding! Eclipse is one of this IDE designed with ease of use in mind. and they mean it, really! So why do you need a quick pocket reference guide? Easy!, for those precious moments you spend far from your desk (while waiting the bus, or in a long trip across the continent). Enjoy!

If you're looking for a book on the basics of how to use Eclipse and the IDE this is good. If you're looking for a book that's specific to the current version of the Eclipse, this is not that book. While it doesn't say what version it was written for, it mentions version 3.1 several times and Eclipse is way past that.That being said, it's a good if you have little or no current experience with Eclipse.

I've come to expect a lot from O'Reilly guides, and this one didn't let me down. It really helped me past some areas of confusion I had with Eclipse, although I think I may want a larger book eventually that gets into more detail on some of the add-ins.

cheap price; quick and dirty to get up and running

This guide has very handy tips when you are like me, a beginner. Also is written understanable for a beginner which is very welcome when you start with programming.

Having a guide of this size on hand, it is very useful for quick reference and consultation in the office. I like the publisher.

The "Eclipse IDE Pocket Guide" gets you off to a fast start and is much better than reading the background notes. But, it's very limited and don't expect to become an expert by absorbing this short work. It fills the "quick and dirty" need to be reasonably effective using Eclipse. So, appreciate it for what it is and pick up a larger reference on Eclipse that you can read at leisure. I did find some useful advice and it certainly steered me in the right direction to using Eclipse more effectively. So many people have developed add-ins for this one editor that a direction for intuitive use is nearly impossible to find on its own.The best thing to do is really to get a thorough reference and take the time needed to learn this complex editor properly.But, in this hectic world of programming that time isn't often available. So, get a first taste of Eclipse in this book and go back for more when the time is available. I gave it only three stars because it's just far too short for me. I would have been happy to pay twice as much for a more complete introduction.

tutto quanto basta per l'uso di questo editor completo. Non vi serve altro a meno che non intendete lavorare come un professionista.

The book provides the information I needed to be able to use the Eclipse IDE software. However, the packaging was not proper for this book and the book was not in good condition, quite mangled actually. Although new, it looks like its been used for more than a year.I hope that appropriate packaging will be used in the future for this type of product so other people do not suffer the same experience I did.

Manuel correct pour s'en tirer avec eclipse. Très bon pour les personnes qui ont besoin d'un livre pour travailler et qui répugne à chercher dans toutes les combinaisons de menu celle qui leur convient.

どうせ、ヘルプを英語で読むなら本も英語にしてしてしまえ、という気持ちで買った本書ですが、コンパクトながらECLIPSEのインストール、レイアウト、入力補完、デバッガーの使い方など、わかり易く説明しており、すぐに読みきることができました。何かと英語が便利なコンピューターの世界ですが、O'REILLYのPOCKERT　GUIDEシリーズは、結構安いし、英語苦手意識を払拭するいい機会だと思ってます。
