Q: Are these comfortable to wear for all day? Other snow boots I own feel very heavy and I want some that are more comfortable.

I walked a 5k in mine and they were comfortable the entire time. Definitely not as heavy as a typical snow boot.

Q: Can you actually tie the laces, are the laces functional?

Yes, the laces are functional on these boots. I do need to loosen them as well to put them on as i have a high arch.
