Q: What is the diameter of the inside threading to the manifold? 1/2"?

Yes 1/2 inch supply line. Worked great for me. Heat the 1/4 inch rubber lines a little to make connecting easier.

Q: Can I replace a regular in ground automatic sprinkler head with this and a riser? Do I need a separate pressure regulator?

Most water psi after the pressure regulator is about 40 - 50 psi. if ur water line pressure is hi say about 70 psi then u will need a regulator because the water pressure will blow out one of the ports... the ports is held by only an o-ring so u have to have a lower water pressure... 40 - 45psi is OK.

soak your filter in a container of soapy water overnight. hold under stream of water, massaging out soap with debrea. Roll up in clean, dry towel, and its as good as new.

Q: does this leak under pressure? Can i use this indoors?

I've had a few hoses pop off the manifolds. A simple fix but may be major problem if this happens indoors.It may be my water pressure was too high. That being said these are pretty good units and I would buy again.
