5th Grade Basic Math Success Workbook

I used to be a college math tutor in algebra and calculus. Now that I have children, I bought this as a supplemental math book so I could tutor my Son at home. There are very few good math books out there available, and this is one of the good ones. It gives step by step examples of how to do each type of problem in a very clear and easy to understand method, one of the best teaching methods I've seen; and trust me, I've seen a lot of different methods. It also helps keep kids interested because of the colorful illustrations. It has helped my Son improve at learning 5th grade math and fill in the gap of a public school education. It will reinforce the same math taught in public schools and make the student's math skills much stronger. This book is definitely worth it!

I homeschool and we use workbooks for the electronic free days or days we are traveling. The Sylvan math books have good explanations that allow my kids to complete the exercises mostly independently. I really like these books for 3rd-5th grade. I like the Spectrum books for the higher levels. We also use Khan academy and these Sylvan books are a great supplement for my 5th grader. My youngest is about half way through the 4th grade Sylvan book and uses Saxon worksheets to supplement because he doesn't read well yet (he's quite advanced in math - he just turned 8). He can do the exercises on his own and he likes that.

Good home school addition to the curriculum. Came on time and in great condition.

Overall, I really like the way the information is presented. It seems especially geared to the visual learner. You can easily grasp the import by the pictures used. However, it relies too much on pictures and is too short on verbiage. Each main section could use a little more explanation on how to teach and explain that topic to your child. But as worksheets, it is very good.

Easy-to-use, thorough, & great price. Used for my daughter during the school year.

Help him to review math figures and problems!!!

Loved the work book. But there were some wrong answers in the answer book. Made me question my sanity a few times.
