Lascar EL-USB-4 Current Loop USB Data Logger, 4-20 mA

I bought two different Lascar products. I installed their software onto two different computers. Neither product worked on either computer. Lascar tech support didn't even try to fix the issue. They just offered to set up the return paperwork.

This is the second unit I have operated. It does a good job of documenting many issues in the process control / instrumentation profession. It will sample quickly for a few hours or can be slowed down and gather information for days. The next generation of this will be faster and have more memory, and THAT one will get 5 stars. Still a good trouble shooting tool for the money. My only real complaint is...you have to "start" it up with your notebook ( plugs into a usb port ) while the device always stays in my tool bag, having to goto my notebook can be cumbersome.

We installed several units during October 2018. Still collecting data. Software is simple to use. One unit failed to collect data. Fault message was low voltage. Replaced with new battery. Did not work. Exchanged battery from working unit. Did not work. Notified MicroDaq. Excellent response/rapport. Will buy again from MicroDaq.

These are great. The company I work for often uses them as a backup logger in addition to SCADA and sometime paper chart recorders. Simple set up and reliable logging you can save as an Excel file. I’ve probably used 100’s of these loggers. The user just needs to make sure batteries are replaced when needed and data is extracted on schedule. I’ve never seen the hardware fail except when I dropped one on concrete. Even then it’s just the plastic casing that I’ve seen break.

I connected the EL-USB-4 to a pressure transducer that I used to monitor my water pressure in real time. The unit has a real time clock. The sample rate and start times can be easily programmed using the PC-based software that comes with the unit. It is super simple to set up. The sampled data is easy to extract, store, and plot.I created graphs that I emailed to my local water department. My data clearly showed water pressure below minimum building code - it proved that the city pumps were not functioning correctly and I had my water pressure restored to normal in 2 days.

This is the second logger that I have purchased. The first one I purchased approximately 5 years ago and it is still working great.
