Two questions. 1. Is it true that its pretty fragile? 2. Does the gel actually help keep it cool?

1) I don't think it is fragile at all: pretty robust, actually. 2) Mine feels room temperature.

Does the cool gel get annoying when you don't particularly get hot?

Never noticed the temperature of it at all, and I use it 10 hours most days. In fact, I barely notice it's even there, which in my book must mean its really comfortable and doing its job. Before I had this, I used to notice my wrists getting sore or tired after a while. Not any more.
