Good Read
Well prepared. Excellent perfect-bound binding (break the book-in by setting it on it's spine and open 1/4" thick sections at a time, from both sides, running your finger vertically, a 1/4" or so away from the fold, so the pages will "break" there, and not at the hinge material of the binding itself. The book will then tend to lay flat at rest). The 2nd Edition delivers a nostalgic hike back to the 1968-1970-1/2 era when a person could travel east of Beirut through the mountains towards Damascus, and enter the expansive Bekaa Valley from above - with no more concern than whether you'd have enough petrol to make it back to Beirut."Once crossing a set of railroad tracks that run diagonal to main road, near small groves of olive trees, there's several one-story adobe buildings scattered a half-mile or more in the distance towards the north-east"..... my Australian, cartographic world-traveling friend explained to me, surfing at Cote Basque, Fr. in late September, 1969."Take the first left after the railroad tracks ... turn-off the motor and roll the windows down in your vehicle - then wait. Someone will drive out from one of the buildings to meet you. They'll be armed, but friendly."*************************************************************I was offered and clutched a handful of blond pollen from a shiny 4-litre round-cornered, square can, sealed with a huge pop-top lid. It smelled spicy, deeply-balsamic, turned red on the outside when squeezed, then revealed a uniform grain-structure when halved. And what An Excellent Vacation it was!The Bekaa Valley revealed nothing more to me. So, what an odd, first-time pleasure to finally re-visit Bekaa (in Figure 0.4) and see the classic "Beautiful Day" farm-photo of the valley, "filled with Cannabis as far as the eye could see."

Wonderful book about a truely remarkable substance
I first experienced hashish in my twenties and it is still my favorite mind altering substance. I wish the U.S. government would become enlightened like Holland is. Great Book. Lots of info. Good Hashish, good Food, and good Ale makes for a wonderful day!

Hashish
Buy it if you want to know anything about Hashish. I have an older version but read it all and learned much. I hope the new version does more on water extraction. This book is a treatise!
