Are these brushes cruelty-free AND vegan?

In short yes to both. Brush made deom taklon. Got this info on Wikipedia: Taklon is the common name for a synthetic fiber used in artist-quality paint, makeup and pin stripe brushes. It is a smooth, soft, and somewhat fragile polyester derivative devoid of any protein component or allergen elements and is therefore used in the cosmetic industries as a "green," "vegan," "allergy free" or synthetic alternative to animal hair brushes.1

Can someone justify why this brush is $44? Is it made of unicorn hair or something?

Thank you for your enquiry!  And good question.  There are several reasons.  To get the specially tapered, multi-use unique hair shape The brush can only be handcrafted by master brush artisans.  This means the Magic Foundation Brush does the job of many brushes -  can be used for everything from bronzer, to blush and contour as well as foundation without even cleaning inbetween. My brush is 4 months old and shedding hairs?  I love the way it applies foundation, this one may be defffective, I would like a replacement?

Hello, absolutely!  We guarantee the brush for minimum of a year, or two years for people on our mailing list.   These brushes mortally get used every day or several times a day, so they do eventually wear out.
