Nice grips, and looks very nice
I got these grips for my pt1911. They are pretty nice looking. They feel good in the hands. I can't stand just plain wood grips and I despise the look of just rubber grips. So this was a good choice to me.Couple things to know about the grips. If your 1911 has a ambi-safety, you WILL have to notch the right side of the inside wood. This took me about 15 mins. You can't even tell. Just keep sanding, fitting, sanding, fitting..etc Make sure that whn you screw the grips in the safety MOVES freely as it should. I thought I was good and then when I tighten the screw down all the way the safety wouldn't budge...The rubber part that your fingers long onto in the front are hollow. This is annoying and I will be filling that gap with some permetex rubber and letting it cure. I did have to trim the upper rubber right under the trigger guard. Not a huge problem honestly, more of a personal preference...Two gripes that I feel should be addressed. The front rubber has extra rubber when the finger grooves are.. you can tell it was in a mold and they didn't trim it completely off. I will take care of this with a fine tipped exacto knife, but it's more of an annoying feeling when you have the gun in your hands. Lastly is the bottom part of the rubber where the lower screws go into the frame. I really feel this should be addressed better. The screws opening have a small plastic washer that is just in a recessed area on the rubber... so when you tighten the screws down a lot of times you will get the screw and rubber OVER the screw, it just doesn't look good honestly. Makes it look like cheap grips. I feel they should have a solid mounting point in the rubber with a metal washer that is stationary rather than removable plastic washer.Other than that they are decent. It would be even better if they started making these i different shades or different patterns for the wood. Overall pretty pleased with them. My friend shot mine and then another's 1911 that hand normal wood grips. He prefered mine because it was much nicer to hold, which I am guessing is because of the rubber that wraps around the front.-Nigel

Great grips, really sets off my 1911
If you have a 1911 and are looking for new grips, buy these. They look G-R-E-A-T looking, very comfortable and have held up well. The wood looks fantastic while the soft grip rubber molds to your have like a glove. My Commander's original grips were very thin, and the grip screws were very short at .190", so I had to get longer grip screws. I picked some fancy hex headed stainless steel screws .250" long from Brownell's. After a little shortening to .230", they worked out perfect. (Note- The grip screws on a 1911 are a funky .150"-50 TPI. You won't find them at any hardware store. If you find a size at a hardware store that "looks like it will fit" they might, but you will end up with stripped grip screw bushings if you try to use them. Either order the correct ones or go to a gun shop, one *WITH* a real gunsmith to get the proper ones.I did a little work on my grips before installing them. I used Loctite "Black Max" toughened cyanoacrylate adhesive to bond the underside of the rubber grips to the wood so the seam would be tight where the rubber meets the wood. I also bonded an aluminum 3mm flat washer .0150" thick in place of the clear plastic ones between the rubber and wood where the grip screw goes to keep the rubber from "bulging" around the screw heads when they were tightened. There is also a seam on the front of the finger grooves I sanded smooth strictly for looks. I also bonded the Pachmyr emblems in place and removed a tiny bit of wood on the top rear grip panel to clear my 1911's safety. I took pictures and will be posting this project on the Instructables web site. The only possible negative I can see is I will be careful to prevent any solvents or lead remover solutions getting on the rubber grip part. I am not sure it would cause any problems but I'll err on the side of safety. The other thing is you may need to remove a tiny bit of wood to clear your safety, or on both sides if you pistol has ambidextrous safetys. As I stated, these will fit both the Government model and the Commander models. They will *not* fit the Officer's model. You won't regret buying these grips. Everyone who sees them at the Rifle club I belong to wants to know where to get them.

Classy add on for the GSG 1911-22.
I ordered this to dress up a new GSG 1911-22. The old GSGs had wood double diamond grips but the new ones come with plastic faux wood pieces. I'm building the new weapon with some performance and some cosmetic add on items. The rose wood panels and the soft rubber wrap around is a really great look. The grips are comfortable and improve the feel when shooting. They do increase the distance from front to back of the grip but not the trigger reach. The only problem with fit is the right side of the safety slot on the grips need to be lengthened. When the safety is disengaged there isn't room for the lever to move inside the grip. It took maybe 5 minutes to remove material with a Dremel tool to fix this minor problem. The rest of the fit was good. These grips appear to be high quality. I would recommend these for your 1911 platform.
