The smart, witty, intimate modern romance Destination Wedding reunites two of cinema's most adored stars, Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder, as the socially awkward Frank and Lindsay. When they meet on the way to a destination wedding, they soon discover they have a lot in common: they both hate the bride, the groom, the wedding, themselves, and most especially each other. As the weekend's events continually force them together—and their cheerlessness immediately isolates them from the other guests—Frank and Lindsay find that if you verbally spar with someone long enough, anything can happen. When debate gives way to desire, they must decide which is stronger: their hearts or their common sense.]]> Review: Unique and funny - not like most films/movies - almost arthouse in the way its done; like a play - Unique - entertaining dialog but unlike most movies and films. No one else talks except the two of them, so from a film maker perspective that was interesting and unusual. But mainly I liked that it was so different than any other movies out there + it made me laugh out loud several times. Review: What if this is as good as it gets? - This is the comedy of two people who absolutely should not be together because they are polarizing opposites. Drax the Destroyer and the stereotypical Cat Lady. I thought the trailer was cute, but the movie was so much funnier than I anticipated. The locations are romantic, but the main characters are so obtusely cynical and awkward. Seriously, it's like watching a car crash or a trainwreck happen in slow motion. -But that's the beauty of it. That's the very thing that makes this movie funny and enjoyable. The situations go from bad to worse, and where the two polar opposites always appear separate, over time their quirks and habits overlap and even compliment each other. It's not a stereotypical romance film. It's quirky, rough around the edges, and the dialog talks more about the philosophy of life and the purpose of love with sooo many sick burns and put-downs between the two. But that's love in real life. It's not beautiful. It's not glamorous. The actors do a great job to sell the characters, and the director takes an interesting approach with the visuals to make some statements. This would be a good film to watch when your s.o. wants you to pick a romantic comedy, and you really don't want to sit through a bunch of cheesy Hollywood bs. It's also a good film to watch if you just want a movie that will make you think AND make you laugh. A similar film in tone is "As Good As It Gets". I wouldn't recommend this to people with ADHD or people who only watch movies with explosions. Also, I wouldn't recommend it to people who are fans of cheesy, predictable, "every woman get's her man", Hallmark/Lifetime/O.W.N "romantic comedies". -They won't be able to appreciate it.

Cynical, hilarious, and true—for those who have been burned
Destination Wedding is a movie for single people who have been hurt in a relationship and now have a cynical outlook on love. It’s for people who enjoy good dialogue, great zingers, and a simple but cute movie about two people who have given up on love—but not life—and may or may not end up together at the end. It’s funny, awkward, and unconventional, but in my opinion, a great movie. It’s cynical, yes, so don’t go into it expecting a non-stop ball of fun with a slew of supporting characters like Pretty Woman. It’s a film about, and starring, two people, and only two people. I can see why it wasn’t a “big” movie—aside from coming out the same weekend as Crazy Rich Asians and only being released in two theatres, no one in the film has any dialogue besides Keanu and Winona. That being said, they hold their own with witty conversation and wonderful chemistry that makes you want to root for them, even while thinking they may yet be better off alone. All-in-all, I loved this movie and want to watch it again just to be able to quote all of its hilarious yet true dialogue.

Cerebrally funny!
I have seen a lot of movies but I have never experienced one with the intensity of dialogue--from start to finish-- as this one. Alternately funny and thought provoking this movie was a delight to watch. I have a renewed appreciation for the talents of both Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder. The back and forth verbal sparring was intellectually stimulating. A total 5.

Delightful
In the vein of Nora Ephron or reminds me of the Cary Grant slightly confused and doesn't fit in persona versus the over the top goofiness of a Katherine Hepburn type in Wynona Ryder. I think this is something many older movie classics fans can appreciate. It is subtle and a feel good movie if you get the non conformist humor going on underneath. There is hope after all! I am saddened but not surprised more people don't appreciate this movie and I am a very tough sell. I have watched this movie so many times. It is a fun ride! No matter how hard they try to loose hope they can't help finding it. Great dialogue and smart but not over the top intelligent film you can't help but smile! They also have real chemistry! If you are used to obvious humor and not thinking during a film and not getting involved in the feelings on screen then you will not enjoy it. It isn't heavy. It is just a lightly, very lightly dark humor. Enough to be smart but not enough to make you feel bad. In fact it is a feel good film that gives hope and makes you feel maybe you are not the only person out there who thinks these things sometimes! That there is a nitch you fit into and you are not as alone out there. I think it shows we ALL think these things sometimes so we are NOT as different as everyone else after all. There is happiness everywhere you look!

Funny and True
About the big issues in life, but leaves you amused by it all rather than depressed. A wise movie.

Awkwardly funny!
It was an ok movie. I loved Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves working together. I was hoping that the movie had some serious romanic interests with the two characters like their last film together. However, it was weirdly filmed with the two characters. I felt oddly disappointed of this I felt the movie overall it was a weird and awkward romantic movie. I thought they could have made the two leading man and woman would have something of romanticism at the end of the movie. I didn’t felt there was enough romantic scenes in the movie or there was enough chemistry with the characters. So it was kind of funny than romantic and that was about it.
