Automating with SIMATIC S7-1200: Configuring, Programming and Testing with STEP 7 Basic 3rd Edition

This book contains a lot of detail on every one of the rules that go into the CPU and supporting control systems. But it lacks some woked out examples to illustrate to show the reader how he is supposed to use the instructions in practice.. As a novice reader, i would like to see several examples to illustrate the points after all the detail is presented.

Information concise and well illustrated. Got the answers of my difficulties of programming with SIMATIC PLC. Just missed the CD with the software programming.

Despite the occasional grammatical and spelling errors, Hans Berger has written a clear book based mostly on theory and operation of the Siemens S7-1200 PLC equipment, contrasting the original software user guide offered by Siemens, which offers minimal guidance for successful programming. My impression has been that the original guide was poorly translated from German to English. This book clears up so much of the confusion that the original guide creates. All aspects and features of the S7-1200 system are covered, in-depth, by the author. My only reservation is that not enough practical examples are included. More real-world applications and examples would have easily enhanced this book. Fervent readers will find only barren examples of function block diagram (FBD), structured code language (SCL) and ladder logic (LAD) programming. Hopefully, other published books by Hans Berger have been embellished above this one. The Amazon price was considerably less expensive than prices on other websites for the same book, hence my primary reason for purchasing through Amazon. Many illustrations and figures appear faint and faded, creating a constant challenge to the reader wishing to learn from the material.

As engineers we would like to see several examples to illustrate the points after all the detail is presented. Parts of the book were extremely helpful, but other parts were hard to follow without examples. We look forward the the next edition on the S7-1500 series under V12, which we have placed on order.

Good Buy

Thought this book would teach about programming with Siemens PLCs. Only reviews the basics and not how to build the code. No example code to develop. Too late to return it.
