Little Lips

I was very disappointed in this DVD. It is a Spanish movie dubbed into English. The sound track is poorly reproduced in the creation of the DVD. I am slightly hearing impaired and therefore used to compensate by reading lips at the same time. But since the movie was dubbed the lips and the conversation do not match. There were no subtitles provided which made it very difficult to understand what was going on. On top of that the pictures were poorly reproduced also with a very grainy quality.At the end of the movie I still didn’t understand what had happened and I threw it in the trash.

Beautifully shot, narrated and directed film. Great storyline, great acting, and wonderful cast. Excellent acting from the young female actress. Sensual, artistic, creative and meaningful. Controversial yes, but a wonderful piece of film if you are a film buff like I am and appreciate a great work of art. Very comparable to Victor Nabakov's "Lolita" but still wonderfully different in its own way. Beautiful depiction of a man's feelings and emotions coming from a war-torn situation, and being saved by a family's very young, and very precocious, daughter. Sensual, very artistic, I loved it! If you can appreciate good filmmaking and directing and look outside of society's rigid social conventions regarding adult-child relationships, this is a great film.

According to the friend I got the movie for the movie , who has seen the full version, this is missing large parts of the most important scenes.

This was a very poor quality movie - not just in technical terms, but also in the content itself. Granted, it is very old and predates modern movie production, but the video quality was disappointing, the editing was poorly done and the story content simply was contrived.

A tease of a young girl makes life awkward for an older man. The story moves slowly and nothing actually happens between the two.

Il DVD in oggetto non è stato pubblicato da TeleVista bensì dalla New Star Video (Beverly Hills, CA; 2002): altro non è che la riproduzione di un VHS statunitense, pertanto il contenuto audio è interamente in lingua inglese anziché, come indicato, in lingua italiana sottotitolata. Raccomando l'acquisto solo a quella categoria di appassionati duri e puri che cercano di reperire ad ogni costo piccole chicche del cinema italiano, da anni ormai introvabili; a tutti gli altri consiglio di avere pazienza, augurando loro la fortuna di imbattersi, prima o poi, in una giacenza de “Historia de Eva” (Colmenar Viejo, MAD: Suevia Films, 2008), unica edizione in DVD della pellicola di Cattarinich comprensiva dell'audio originale.

A film that appears to be taken from a vhs copy and is not good quality. The story itself of an ex soldier who feels redeemed by a young girl he meets upon his return from the war draws you in as the man is enthralled by the girl's innocence. The girl is thrilled by the man's attention but being a gentleman he does not pursue the romance beyond an acquaintance. As the tale progresses the man's obsession for the girl intensifies but she is ignorant and innocent of his true feelings and as she meets and interacts with a boy her age. Sad that the copy was so bad

Like Humbert was poisoned by the tormenting temptation of Lolita, so too Herr Paul is bewitched by this nymphet (Katya Berger) drifting fairy-like through the meadows and bathing naked in the river. Herr Paul is an injured war veteran, contemplating suicide, but his outlook on life is refocused as he befriends the little girl, and as he seeks out her little lips.The film is slow-paced, but that adds to the atmosphere. As other reviewers have mentioned, the dated DVD is grainy. Mine was an edited version. On U-tube I have seen other unedited versions containing more sensuous & contraversial scenes.This is one of a string of films depicting love affairs betwen a child and an older man (such as Lolita, Pretty Baby, Sundays & Cybele) that are reviewed in  Puberty & First Love: Children in Films: 6  and  Physical & Sexual Abuse (Children in Films) Recommended if you are intrigued by the entrapment of child-adult relationships.
