very easy to type on
Arrived yesterday. Works a dream; very easy to type on. Would be 5 stars except there is no catch to hold it closed i.e. when it is used as a cover, it is held on only by the magnet on one side like an Apple cover, so like an Apple cover it may come open or fall off when travelling.

Excellent value
I rarely get to review electronics purchases-- I rarely make them now that I've already purchased or been given the ones I actually want. Owning a smart phone, a Kindle Fire, and iPad and a couple of (okay, admittedly aging) laptops, and using such things primarily to read and to email, there is a limit on what I can justify on a limited budget. The iPad felt like a serious extravagance, and it was only my having received it as a gift that allows me to reconcile it. In my case, it is less a slightly larger version of the Kindle Fire than a much smaller laptop-- I have a disabled back, and lifting and carrying even a laptop can be a serious problem. The whole point of the iPad experiment was the possibility of a 'keyboard cover'. I've tried, and been disappointed by, various bluetooth keyboards for smartphones (& the Kindle) in the past, and all were either too small, too flimsy, or simply too poorly matched with the phone to be of much use. In addition, smartphone screens don't lend themselves to writing: a quick note or email perhaps, but nothing more, as they're simply too small.Enter the iPad and the Logitech ultrathin keyboard/cover. I admit it sounded unlikely-- held on, not to mention in place when using, by magnets?-- but it works, beautifully. The keyboard is much smaller than standard, as it can't be longer than the long dimension of the iPad, but is easily large enough to accomodate adult hands, and the bluetooth works flawlessly. Open, the magnets hold it 'clicked' into place when it's used in the 'landscape' (horizontal) position on the keyboard, and are strong enough that it can then be lifted as a unit by the screen/iPad; in 'document' position, it is less-well attached, as there is a third or so less surface area of magnetic attachment, but on a stable surface it's still satisfactory. The keyboard has a nice touch, better than expected, and the keys are tightly fitted to the board without any stiffness (I know the fit is tight because I managed, with the help of a cat, to spill wine on it in the first couple of days I had it, without doing it any apparent harm). In use, the iPad fits into a slot just above the keys, where the magnets hold it in place, while the rest of the keyboard cover, extending past the slot, provides the base necessary to ensure the iPad doesn't tip over even if you're using the iPad in the upright, document position. Closed, the screen is perfectly protected by the cover, which is an almost perfect match for the iPad itself. As an added benefit, it also turns off the screen automatically on closing (I don't know how-- possibly magically), which saves the battery... a touch of a button turns it back on.While I don't know exactly how many grammes or ounces the Logitech cover actually weighs, it is negligible-- the difference between the iPad with and without the cover is barely noticeable, and it's light enough that a couple of magnets allow it to be lifted by the iPad and vice versa. Closed, the magnetic hinge-clamp feels secure. It also makes the combination (mine is black on black inside) look like a burnished aluminum laptop of a size not yet possible via current technology. Come the day they can economically miniaturize a hard drive to fit (plus whatever else goes on in a laptop-- I don't speak 'tech'), I suspect that a machine like this will become the new standard "laptop".Highly recommended.
