Yakima OffGrid Medium Premium Cargo Basket Roof Rack with Quick Release Mounting System and Removable Fairing and Accessory Bars, Black

I ordered this Yakima Off Grid roof rack for my 2022 Toyota Corolla hatchback. I researched roof racks and cargo carriers for a few months before ordering one. I decided on this one because I needed something that could hold up to wind, rain, and salty sea air. Also, I did not go with a cargo carrier because I need something that can just stay on the car all of the time. The reviews for other brands said they had problems with rust, but the Yakima is supposed to hold up without rusting. I ordered the medium size. I partly regret not ordering the large size. I recently used the roof rack to carry a fully packed 12 X 15 X 30 luggage bag with wheels and a 15 X 30 scuba diving bag. It worked great. I did not notice any road noise, even when I was going 70 mph down the highway. The cargo net gave me peace of mind that the load was more secure. My only complaint is that the rack secures to the roof rails (I used Toyota OEM roof rails/rack) with these rubber straps. I purchased the metal locks which can help keep thieves from unlocking the straps, but I'm not sure what would keep them from cutting the straps. I used a combination of metal and industrial zip ties to provide added security. When I was researching the roof racks and cargo carriers, I had a hard time finding images of Toyota Corolla hatchbacks, so I hope these help!

Fits well, easy to install. Low wind noise and looks great!

Love this basket. It looks really nice and makes very little noise when you are driving. It’s easy to take off and put back on if you need to and it doesn’t weigh too much.

Assembly was easy, quality is great. But, why is the connecting piece red? I have to paint it black for it to look right on my black car...

This cargo basket is definitely one of the best looking roof storage units especially compared to the standard wire baskets with a faring. It is sturdy, I have no concerns for failure under load. It is a bit on the heavier side as a result, but still able to be installed by a single person. Wind noise is notable; but that is present w/ all baskets; although I do believe this one would be quieter than the wire baskets. I took the risers off my bars and installed them directly to the roof runners; this lowered the basket by ~2in; which significantly decreased wind noise at high speeds. All in all an ideal cargo basket, well worth the price for those looking to camp/overland.

I bought the Offgrid and the extension for my 2015 Subaru Forester - it fits perfectly - even able to keep the original antenna. I have a sunroof - yes there is a little more noise, even with the fairing. Above 70 mph I notice I can hear it up there with the roof closed. No problem for me but just an fyi. I think it is a good value considering I assembled and installed it myself (50 year old female, with help lifting it up onto the crossbars) in less than 2 hours. Very happy with my purchase.

It was pretty easy to assemble and mount on the car. Red spacers really set it off... it looks really cool and well made. We carried suitcases and ice chests from Riverside CA to Reno and back with no issues. My wife liked it so much we left it on her car. Now we get to mount an LED light bar on it and buy the shovel and axe mount kit.... go Subaru Crosstrek...
