YAKIMATimberline Kit with CoreBars

Well this thing is basically a huge pain to install. The instructions are not too incredibly clear as to what the purpose of each bit is. The screw and block bit within the tower that the corebar adapter attaches to is so difficult to get in place properly. Because of this, I have completely stripped the threads on one of the adapter as it just kept wanting to screw in crooked. Three of the four adapters went on correctly. I've contacted Yakima as replacing this part. We'll see what happens. I suppose I can just order the replacement part directly from Yakima. I'm very frustrated by this thing. Otherwise, everything seems to work great and because I was able to get one bar onto my car, it does seem very secure. I'm just very annoyed that I cannot install the second bar because of this defective adapter.

I really liked this product made by Yakima, especially providing all the tools you need to put it together, even though you don't need much. On the downside the paper directs are pretty confusing, kinda like how ikea's directions are. As they just give you pictures with no written instructions. On the upside there are YouTube videos you can watch which are really helpful. Or if you are like me then you figure it out after some trail and error. Once you do figure how everything works its actually very simple and easy to assemble and attach to your car. Another nice thing I like about these crossbars is that the quality feels nice, secure, and safe.

They seem like fine crossbars, but they are too wide for my older yakima ski rack brackets, which are designed to fit a 2" crossbar. Yakima customer service suggested the universal mighty mount brackets to adapt a fit. I tried them but they were not only very bulky but made it impossible to effectively lock and secure the ski rack, so basically useless. I had to return everything, the crossbars, locks, and mighty mount adapters.

They function well, three stars because I feel they are ridiculously overpriced.

I purchased these for my VW Touareg, so I could attache a cargo box on top. They worked awesome, and I did not notice any significant increase in wind noise.

Great product. I bought the kit, which means towers and bars. $369 later I was only shipped the bars. No towers.Will update when solution is resolved.
