Wooden Camera 1/4-20 Cold Shoe Mount for Attaching Accessories to Your Camera

For $4,000+, you'd think my ENG-style HD camera would come with more than one hot shoe on top. After all, it's often necessary to attach more than one microphone receiver to the camera. Or a light. Or a monitor.But ... nope. Only one hot shoe was mounted on my camera when I bought it. Needing a second one immediately so I could attach two separate wireless microphones to my camera, I ordered this Wooden Camera hot shoe. It fits like a glove.Using an Allen wrench, I attached this to my camera's available screw holes on top of the camera. It's nice and snug. (It could be unscrewed, should I ever want to do that but I don't plan to.)If the price for this hot shoe is excessive, I don't think about it because ... well, I have to have it. And the quality is very good.

I received a previously purchased product at a substantially reduced price. It did not come with the mounting screw. I purchased one at Lowes. I don't know if the original would work the same, but the screw adhered to the "Cold Shoe" (it is not a Hot Shoe") at about 3/4 turn before it was tight. It took some fiddling to get it tight and positioned as I wanted. The product itself is well made and finished. One of my Speedlights locks into place correctly, the other is still loose when the lock is activated. I am not sure if the Speedlight electric contacts touch the mounting screw, but it is possible. I plan to use it to mount a GPS or microphone. Possibly, a plastic paint would insulate the screw from making electrical contact.

Many people make hot shoes that attach from the bottom but you don't always have access to the reverse side of the object or gear you want to mount a hot shoe too. This solves that problem by allowing you to mount this hot shoe to really any 1/4" 20 hole in any of your gear making for some interesting combinations. This thing is the most solid shoe I have seen and I wish that Canon made their hot shoes this well.

I bought this for my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and it works great! The metal material it's made of seems to very dense and high quality, which is great because I don't want it bending or getting damaged over time.
