Revell Germany UH-1D Huey Gunship Model Kit

This kit has been circulating for years and has had very little fixes for the heavy flashings everywhere on it which are a shame. But still it is a great and simple build even for a beginner. I used it for a EFL student’s lessons when talking about aircraft engineering and design. The detail of certain parts made the build fun for the student who had never built a model before.It seems that this model is no longer made so I am going to search for another one somewhere for my own private collection.Pros: easy to build, great size and simple enough for beginners.Cons: some parts weren’t injection molded properly, some parts like the front frame of the windshield were incomplete by half a millimeter. Needed to use some ingenuity to fix the issues.The flashing left around the mold were a little too much and made sanding harder than it had to be.

エンジンのカバーと右コックピットの扉にどうしても隙間が出来て組み辛さを感じたが、それ以外は問題なく製作できたため良かった。全体的に雰囲気も忠実なモデルで良かった。

このスケールは、実機との違和感が良く問われることが多いように思うのですが、このキットも、機首部分のプロポーションが損なわれてます。フロントガラスの面積が決定的に違うのです。そこそこ全体としては雰囲気はありますが、見ることの多い機体だけに、違和感がぬぐえませんね。
