Excellent... Product and service
Imma go 5 stars for. 1. Great product works as described. Integrates with their scale perfectly. 2. Easy to set up. Really gets your coffee game up to speed for a better cup in no time. Learn how grind size can make a huge difference.. Customer service is Top notch. I had issues with their scale. Got me in the right direction ASAP Because of this I bought the R2. No regrets... Buy it it's a great piece of gear.. Works for espresso as well.. Enter the numbers the amount of coffee you brewed. The weight of the cup .. it does all the work It would be nice if they had a chart on how to dial in sour or bitter coffee. But easy enough to get the info on the web. Kudos

Difluid R1 Brix refractometer
I guess this R1 Brix Difluid refractometer is a discontinued version as it is no longer available in the listing. Now it shows a completely different meter for coffee at a very high price at $229. I thought $59 was expensive but I'd never spend over two hundred dollars on it. The meter I received is tiny which I like because its portable, but I'm not sure how robust it is overall. It seems to work fine, but since I don't have other meters to compare measurements with, it's hard to say for sure. I got it to use with making juices and drinks with Brix readings which it was originally marketed for and not for coffee use which is what the new black meter is marketed for with TDS readings. I downloaded the app and it is only intended for coffee brewing use and not other general use, so I have no use for the app. I do not like that the device has a constant radio wave/bluetooth emitter even when I'm not using the app. I'd like to turn off this function since it is not needed in my use. The instructions provided are on a small flimsy paper which isn't practical to keep with the meter. I think it would be better if they had laminated instructions that are more durable and just in English. I checked the app to see if the use instructions were included so I could always reference there if needed, but they are not included in the app, which is a miss.

Great quality. Very compact.

False positive?
The unit does power on and does give a result however, the result is nothing close to what the documentations says it should be. You can’t trust the results.

Great coffee tool for my brother, Coffee Aficionado !
My brother is a serious coffee connoisseur (nickname given by us, not a real professional lol), the kind who travels with half his brewing tools but still complains about the equipment he cannot bring. Every time he stays at my place or the family vacation home, he mentions something that is missing from his ideal setup. So I thought this would be a perfect gift for him to keep at the vacation house, where he wants to build a second little coffee station for everyone who enjoys a good cup. I am the black sheep who drinks whatever is available, but the rest of my family is coffee lover as much as he is. This set has worked out really well so far. The refractometer reads consistently, the precision feels accurate, and the scale responds quickly with a stable readout. The built-in timer makes pour-over brewing much easier for him, and the app has been surprisingly smooth for tracking TDS and dialing in consistency. He said it gives him all the basic control he needs without dragging extra equipment around. Well, he seems happy with it, and for someone who is this particular about coffee, that says a lot. I think this makes a great gift and has been a solid addition to our vacation home coffee station. In short, I think this was a worthy acquisition in terms of overall quality vs price.

For the coffee geek who wants to take brewing to the next level, this is what you're looking for! I've been making pour-over for years, using a separate scale and timer, and always relied solely on taste to dial in my grind size and technique. I decided to dive into the more scientific side of brewing and picked up this unit. The main draw for me was integrating the precision scale, timer, and a TDS refractometer into one unit. No more juggling different devices and manually logging numbers; it's all streamlined. Right out of the box, the build quality feels solid and premium, which you would expect at this price point. In daily use, the system performs brilliantly. The scale is incredibly responsive and accurate down to 0.1g, and the timer is intuitive. The real magic, however, is the refractometer. After brewing, I let a small sample cool, place a few drops on the lens, and get an instant Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) reading. This number tells me the exact concentration of my brew. By syncing the device to the smart app on my phone, it automatically logs the weight of my beans, the final beverage weight, and the TDS measurement to calculate the precise extraction percentage. Seeing the data graphed out has been eye-opening; I can now make tiny adjustments to my grind or water temperature and see exactly how it impacts the extraction, allowing me to consistently replicate that perfect cup. Is this system for everyone? Absolutely not. If you're happy with your current coffee routine, the price tag is probably too steep to justify. But, if you're like me, a hobbyist who loves data, consistency, and the pursuit of the perfect extraction, then this tool is invaluable. It has a bit of a learning curve, not in using the device itself, but in understanding how to interpret TDS and extraction yield numbers and translate them into better-tasting coffee. For those who want to eliminate variables and truly understand the science behind their brew, this is a fantastic investment that bridges the gap between home brewing and professional-level precision.
