Just a new casing, but that's what I needed.
I missed that this is just a new shell, but it turns out to be exactly what I needed. Pulled my battery and circuit board from the old fob and put it in the new one. Works great. HINT: to get the back on is a little tough. Once you get it mostly on, place the fob key pad down on a solid surface and give it a whack with the heel of your palm. It will snap on nicely. I just moved my original "hidden" key to the new fob.

Changer battery my before trying to reprogram
CHANGE THE BATTERY BEFORE PROGRAMMING. The battery was likely dead when I tried to reprogram so it failed. Once I found a video of how to reprogram my key on YouTube, the guy suggested replacing the battery. Once I replace the battery with a new one, the reprogramming worked within one try. I found no issues with the valet key fitting or locking into place. Very nice product! Durable and compatible with our 2017 Ford Flex. Our manual had old instructions in it so we had to YouTube how to actually do it with a keyless fob. All steps consecutive within 30 minutes: 1. Get in car with both old fobs that work and set down somewhere in car. Let screens/accessory power turn off. Put NEW fob in center console key area (key ring be at the rear with the buttons facing toward the right-hand side). 2. Press driver or passenger unlock button 3 times 3. Press brake pedal once 4. Press driver or passenger lock button 3 times 5. Press break pedal once 6. Press start/stop button (some flash some don’t) 7. Wait 5 seconds, take new key out of center console and check to see if lock, unlock, tail gate work. If not, wait one minute and try again. We will see how long it lasts…. :)

Excellent: cheap replacement for the original key case
The good: This is a replacemente shell for the original key. We have a 2013 CMax Energi Plugin. I was able to disassemble the original key and move the battery, circuit and contacts to the new shell and it worked perfectly. No need for reprogram or expensive trip to the dealer. The not so good: the quality is not as the original as it feels lighter and the button feel less durable but for the price i cannot complain. The process: I am an Engineer but as long as you are fairly comfortable with opening and closing gadgets, then you should be able to do it without any problem. In my case, my key spent too much time on my bag and the button have been pressed to hard to the point that the key will randomly press the button and unlock the car or bring the windows down. I opened the original key twice and tries to rearrenge the contacts from the button, however i knew that they were too eroded to save, so i looked at this shell replacement which came with the new buttons and contacts (exactly what i needed to make the key new again) How to do the transfer: 1) Pry open your old key through the metalic side. Dont be afraid as you wont break it. Just use a small flat screwdriver. 2) Once open, take the clock battery out. 3) Take the metal that holds the battery in place out as well as you will need it. Careful not to bend it too much. 4) take the small board from the other side of the key. Make sure you have some bracelet to discharge your body to avoid burning any component. Or just hold it with small pliers. 5) remove the plastic case embedded on the circuit. 6) (optional) use a bit of rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts on the circuit board. It doesnt hurt but do it with some qtip and alcohol and very careful. 7) open the new shell. 8) place the plastic holder on the circuit 9) place the board on the shell 10) insert the metal piece on the other side of the shell and then set the battery in place (make sure you dont invert the position of the battery) 11) close the shell 12) transfer the physical key from the old shell to the new shell. Or just make a copy of the physical key on a normal locksmith place (it comes with a new blank key) Close and test. It should work as new.

Do NOT buy this product !!!
Do NOT buy this product !!! In my opinion this company is using deceptive advertising, and after communicating with them I get the feeling that this includes deliberate fraud. Note that their advertising says: “Self-programming requires you to have at least one working smart key. Please send your ORDER ID and we will give you a programming video. If you don't have another working key, or you can't program it successfully yourself. You need to find a qualified locksmith or dealer to help you to programme it.” Plus, they say: “If you have any questions such as missing parts, received damaged, wrong item, won't install, etc. We will provide you a solution within 24 hours.” So they say that only one existing key is needed to use their product, but they will not provide programming instructions until AFTER you have purchased their product. I made that purchase and then had to e-mail them TWICE to get a response. When they finally responded, their reply sent me a URL to a YouTube video that requires the use of specialized electronic equipment which costs in excess of $2500. I wrote to the company a third time, pointing out that following their procedure would cost over 12 times as much as buying a pre-programmed key from a dealer, and no rational person would do that. Their response was: “We have found the programming video corresponding to your car model, this is a common programming video, I have confirmed to other customers that this video can be programmed according to the prompts. If it still doesn't match,Please tell us the model and year of your car, The other way is,When the product can not be successfully programmed, you can solve the problem through the following methods, which is relatively low cost. 1. You can take it to a key shop where you can program. 2. Call a locksmith and With one working fob they can program the new one.” The bottom line here is that self-programming their product if you have only one functional existing key requires you to spend several thousand dollars, and their “solution” to this is to take their product to a locksmith and pay for it to be programmed. This is exactly what other companies are honest enough to say in their advertising. I plan to return this purchase to Amazon, and suggest that you avoid dealing with this company, as I find their honesty questionable.

I am honestly thrilled with this purchase. I got it for my 2012 Lincoln MKX. Key was super punched out and half the buttons weren't working. I put the internals from my old key into this and everything works perfectly and it saved me several hundred dollars.

Excellent replacement cover. There was nothing wrong with the electronics of my original, just a torn button. This saved me hundreds over purchasing a complete OEM key.

When this arrived it was in two pieces, the back half was not attached to the front, so I went ahead and took my old one apart, swapped all the pieces from my old one to new one and tried to snap it back together, I tried many different ways to snap to two half together, I have no problem snapping my old one back together. I even gave it to a fellow co worker who works in the shop with me and he could not get the two halves to snap together. So there was probably a reason why it was not together when I recieved it. Not worth buying, I well try to send it back
