We got this tablet for traveling with our 7 year old and it works beautifully. We were able to download multiple games which all ran lightning fast and with no lag or longer than expected load times. Connecting to WIFI was easy and quick. Even after downloading a multitude of Netflix shows and eBooks from the library it still didn't slow down. It is a tablet, not a laptop, we didn't try running any massive games on it, but it was perfectly happy hosting and switching between multiple mobile style games with no complaint.Its very lightweight, and since it was being handled by a child we bought a simple case and screen protector in case he knocked it over or dropped it. In the hands of a reliable adult I don't think that would be necessary. It seemed very durable while I was using it and didn't pick up any immediate scratches or indelible smudges while I was testing it out for a few days before giving it to him.
