Air is comprised of 21% Oxygen, and like CO2, has a smaller molecular structure compared to its Nitrogen counterpart. This leads to an adverse variation of inflation pressure over time as the O2 or CO2 leaks out. Nitrogen has been in use in aircraft and racing tires for decades to eliminate the variation caused by the Oxygen bleeding out. Nitrogen pressure varies very little with tire temperature changes making it ideal for racing. There have been many attempts to promote Nitrogen use in bike and motorcycle tires but has fallen short primarily due to lack of availability, convenience, and the fact that it does not compress into a usable liquid such as CO2 does. We conducted testing and discovered that adding a certain quantity of Argon to Nitrogen and then introduced into a tire as a ‘top off gas’ allowed the larger molecules of Argon to act like a ‘goalie’ and set up a defense against the Oxygen and Nitrogen trying to escape the rubber tube. Empty cartridges are recyclable with household items.
