First Alert BRK 9120Bff-6 Hardwired Smoke Detector with Battery Backup, 6-Pack

I love having enough of almost everything I need on hand . So when it's 0 dark 30 & one of these are calling for new batteries (which it actually needs replacement) I've got 6 of them .Our house was built as well as a lot of other homes in our community , 10 years ago . These things have a 10 year lifespan , soooo yeah we need to keep a few replacements on hand .These are simple & quick to replace . As long as they last 10 more years then I'm happy .

Wiring:My smoke detectors are interconnected/hard-wired so I wanted to replace them with something compatible to minimize my effort. Other than the change in branding to "FirstAlert" these are identical to the older (expired) detectors I replaced. Nothing was required to install these other than plugging them in - even the bracket was the same. They did come with wiring harnesses and mounting brackets though (if you're starting from scratch).

Best price on the internet for a 6 pack.Removed my 21+ year old detectors and easily removed / installed these 6 in under an hour.

Purchased these for my home. My brother-in-law, who is an electrical engineer, installed them for me. He said they are very easy to install if you just follow the directions in the packet. They worked great! I used five out of the six.

One of the smoke alarms failed; smoke alarm gives off a very loud 'pesky' noise when triggered (one out of six alarms failed). The one that failed has a red light blinking from the front - and the others do not blink red; meaning something must be wrong with the unit. Called First Alert and they are very kind: enough to send me another one free of charge. But they were not clear: either they do not sell (or discontinued) this model # SMI 1100-AC, (meaning it may be a 'copy'), or it simply failed under normal use. I remember there was a lightning storm when it failed. Good product overall at a reasonable price.

They are nice and work well, though I wish they were priced a bit better. There’s a tiny green light that will show in the dark, but it doesn’t bother any of us at all.

We needed to replace 6 smoke set in our house that are hard wired. When 1 goes off they all scream! One was defective and kept chirping then another would start. Finally I ordered this set. They were easy to install with labeled wiring, come with long battery life and is nice to have a smoke detector that comes with covers to use while cooking. I have not had to cover the one closest to my kitchen and nothing has set it off like the last one.
