Q: This has 2400 gdu of bromelain at 300mg with the turmeric , but i have been taking the now foods 500mg bromelain alone and it has 2400 gdu. how so?

Great question. GDU refers to "Gelatin-Digesting Units", but is measured in GDUs per gram. If you look at the bottles, both will list the Bromelain as being 2400 GDU/g, which means that the strength of the Bromelain is 2400 GDUs PER GRAM (1,000 mg). That is the standard methodology used. Then, they take this strength of Bromelain and put 500 mg per capsule in the product that is alone, or 300 mg of it (per serving size of 2 capsules) in the product with the Turmeric. It is a matter of space in the capsule, since they cannot put in the same amount of Bromelain when they are also adding 600 mg of Turmeric extract per 2 capsules. As an analogy, if you filled up a 2 oz glass and an 8 oz mug both with 2% lowfat milk, they both have 2% lowfat milk, just the volumes would be different. We hope this helps. Have a great day.

Q: I've read that pepper aids in the absorbtion of turmeric. Does this have a pepper compound in it?

I looked at ingredients and there is no pepper in this product. Also part of the key ingredient is the Bromelain. This is a truly wonderful product.
