Q: Can you disconnect the charger portion from the actual mount itself?

No, originally I wanted to attach the charger to the mount that was already cemented onto my windshield but the charger cannot be taken off. Maybe it can but I am too scared to take it off with it being such an expensive charger. So far the mount it comes with is glued onto my windshield without any signs of it ever coming off and my phone stays nice and cool.

You can definitely hear the fan running if you just listen.

Yes. I'm using it with my Pixel 8 Pro with a Mous case (Mag Safe case).

Q: I want to buy this for my dad. He's a truck driver without an assigned truck. He'd have to remove and reattach it daily. Will the suction cup hold up?

The suction may hold up too well. I attached it once but wanted to readjust it but found it impossible to take off. I have had it sitting there for months now and it hasn't moved a millimeter. It just sits there... menacingly.
