Comfortable with great arch support
I'm super picky about shoes but since discovering Chacos a few years back, I can't go back. These are the best hiking sandals ever. I hiked all around the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zions, Yellowstone, and Arches with my old pair (which is still going strong after several years of use). They grip like nobody's business, dry quickly, and are secure and comfortable on your feet. I honestly can't hike in any other shoes. I'm not a fan of the toe wrap, but this style is the bomb, and the thin double straps and bright colors are so cute. I'm a true 8.5, but the 8 in Chacos fits perfectly. Size down for half sizes. These run a bit big. Chacos are best suited for feet with high arches. My husband couldn't wear them with his flat feet.

Great traction, comfortable shoes
I should "test" these shoes more before writing a review, but I can already tell I'm very happy with them. I wore them on a four-mile hike through sand and over sandstone on a hot day to test them. My feet didn't get hot like they do in boots, this is why I bought the sandals. I'm impressed by the traction, I walked up fairly steep sandstone and the sandals had as good of traction as my good hiking boots with Vibram soles, and they have way better traction than my trail runners. The sandals are open enough that hot sand goes in then right back out of the sandal, it doesn't pile up like the Keen river sandals that have toe protection. The straps are very adjustable to fit my foot just right. The shoes are quite comfortable. For a long hike I will still wear boots with ankle support, but for anything under about 8 miles, the sandals are going to work fantastic for me. The straps feel good on my feet, they might dig in eventually, but I'd have to go many miles before they would start to feel uncomfortable. The straps do not rub anywhere. They can be perfectly adjusted to be tight enough not to rub but not too tight. The quality looks great. I've gone through many pairs of Tevas and one pair of Keens where the soles fell off. I don't know how the Chaco soles will hold up but I am optimistic. (between lots of cliff jumping into the ocean with my Tevas and Keens I put heavy wear on my former river shoes) I am now a tour guide in Utah, many other guides I know wear Chacos all summer and love them.

I wear them EVERYWHERE. From out and about to IN THE OCEAN/LAKE/RIVER!
These are now my favorite sandals. They took me a little bit to love, at first I felt they were chunky or heavy, and they are a little bit but it’s because they’re so durable. They’re no TEVAs. After wearing them for 6 months now they’re just so comfortable, and secure on my feet. They’re thick and durable. I wear them everywhere, including right into the water at the river/lake/ocean!!! They’re super cute too, they can be dressed up a little bit. For the price, you can’t beat them either.

Great Quality, but take time to break in.
I love the quality of these shoes! They're super durable and have gotten me through a couple summers of working at camp. Would be 5 stars, but they rub a little bit on my foot and have given me a few blisters when I've had to wear them for extremely long periods of time. Once they are broken in, they get better though.

10/10 recommend
Love them. My first Chacos and I made a great first choice. I watered my plants and got my feet all wet and it wasn’t uncomfortable and they dried v quickly. It’s a little tough readjusting the straps but it’s not impossible. I have v flat feet and tissue paper thin skin on top—but, my Chacos are so comfortable and the straps don’t dig into me. I wear 10 and ordered my size, they fit well.

Chaco help from a first time Chaco noob
UPDATE 11/1/16 These shoes, no matter what I do... STINK. and I am not a woman who has nasty feet! I wash them weekly and still get met with a nasty smell of yucky unwashed foot. I do not believe I will be ordering another pair of Chacos. ****UPDATED 8/8/16**** I've been wearing these, daily, since my purchase- They stink. I mean i've never had food funk problems and these things are gross. I have been washing them weekly (dont really have a choice to make them useable.) and I am still getting funky foot smell. The sandals are still great and comfortable but the smell is really making me regret the purchase. Please read my entire review. Thanks. I'm not sure how to rate this product since i ended up with a different pair completely. I would give the pair listed a 3 and the pair I have on a 5. I got my chacos....and they sucked. The fit was stupid, narrow and the arch was pushing my foot out of the shoe oddly and it was hitting my foot odd (This sole on the advertised pair is stiff with no give at all. Be warned if you aren't used to an arch support they will kick your butt.) I think this style is truly a "woman's shoe" built for cute narrow feeties. I received the multi strap pair first. A size 10. I am normally a size 10 in every shoe I've ever worn. I'm not wide footed but maybe not as narrow as most. I've never had to wear wide. Ever. This particular shoe runs narrow. Even the wide size is narrow-(I did try them on and there's not a whole lot of difference in the width between the w and m they just did not fit my foot.) another reviewer said to size down and try a wide if your normal size doesn't work with the arch and such but even then they didn't work. I went to a shop in town and after trying on different pairs the associate went to a complete different style. I ended up with the single strap style, in a men's 8 (as opposed to a women's 10 ) they fit fantastic and I love them already. they fit amazing and the sole is just a bit squishy compared to the hard core one found on the original shoe. (see photo with review) I encourage first time Chaco buyers to get the single strap ones to start simply because it's a lot easier to adjust and figure out than the multi strapped style. I played with the straps on the original pair for 3 hours.... Maybe it's me but wow. If you're a first time buyer like me, try some in town first if you can. Don't be scared of trying men's. I hope this helps someone else. I must have shopped for a pair of chacos for a week solid before I got it figured out. Best of luck!

No breakin period needed like my last pair
This is my second pair of Chacos. My other pair has the toe loop with double straps and says Vibram soles on the bottom. The old pair is very pretty, but it took a long whole to break in and just generally felt stiffer. I loved being able to hike in it on land or water and found it easy to clean. I don't know how ppl can complain about he stink honestly bc they stink less than any sandals I've ever worn, considering how much use they would get. The problem with my old pair was that even after breaking in, of it star to get to the 2 mi marker my feet would start to rub and blister. Now my feet are a true medium, if not slightly wider, although wide is always too wide for me. My old Chacos seemed to have a little extra on the sides though. My new ones don't buy they still have just the right amount, so not sure if that will affect ppl used to the old sizing which seems slightly different. The other difference I've noticed from my older Chacos (they aren't the classics, but I'm unsure the exact model name) is that they feel a lot stiffer and heavier. The new ones still feel firm but with just the slightest amount of cushion. I can't explain it. I wouldn't want them to be too cushiony as that isn't the feel I like. I love how sturdy they feel and like me ankles are supported. Somehow they feel super utilitarian and also modern and sleek in their own way. This new pair is so comfy I've already been walking a little longer with my dog and absolutely no rubbing or blisters. I do think the toe loop ones are still slightly prettier so may keep a pair of those on hand, but these will be my go to shoes for 9 months out of the year, due to living in a hot climate. I already loved Chacos and now I love my Check Black z1 clouds even more!
