The item came defective, it would say unrecognizable usb device. Out of curiosity before tossing it in the garbage I opened it, and low and behold one of the usb cables wires was not soldered properly to the PCB inside and I was able to solder it back on and it works now, however not much a do about it, not really worth the price or hassle.

Mine came damaged so I returned it. (It was missing the button so I could not test the button.) I tested it while I had it and if you are trying to replace something Like the Griffin Power Mate, I would look elsewhere. The knob is metal, the rest is plastic. Not particularly smooth or weighted rotation as the Powermate has. No drivers so, Plug and play either works or does not. I could get it to work by changing the output in settings on my Mac to "headphones" or "built in speakers" but only those 2. It would need external drivers to work with other devices and those do not seem to exist. I gave it 3 stars because if those things are not important to you, it might be fine.
