This books is AWESOME! It’s got so much info, on all kinds of symbols, from animals to gem stones. I highly recommend it!

Book came in great condition. Great reference book for absolutely everything you could ever think of. Includes a brief description of history & explanation of usage.. Includes everything from runes, to zodiac signs, fauna, flora, numbers & symbols used all over the world from Japan, Inuit God's, Hindu pantheon, Celtic, Americas, etc. In my opinion, it's a great reference material to have in your collection, especially if you're interested in symbolism used throughout history

Great book

I flipped through the pages when I got home from work to check it out and I can't wait to read it. The Seal of Solomon is such an interesting symbol. Mistakenly used as the Jewish star since 1897. The history of this symbol with Hindu and Buddhist background is amazing. Writing it with essential oils really feels amazing. I can't wait to pair this with my black stone scrying bowl.

This book is probably a little peculiar in its setup, but I am loving reading it! I’m really into signs and symbols and this book is a wonderful resource for such things. I am interested in buying more of the authors books in the future.

The descriptions of symbols meanings have no sources, and in some cases I find them both sparse and overreaching. For example, this part of the entry about the ‘magic knot:’ “Because it can be drawn in one continuous line without the pen leaving the paper, it is a symbol of protection, and despite its name was often used in the Middle Ages as an anti-witchcraft symbol; however, it was also used by witches to control the weather or as a love charm, which indicates that the symbol was used homeopathically. There are lots of different magic knots.” Why is a continuous line a symbol of protection? How was it used against witchcraft? Why was it used for those two very unrelated things in witchcraft? How is homeopathy related to any of this? WHAT OTHER MAGIC KNOTS, THERES ONLY ONE ILLUSTRATION— I find many descriptions of symbols I am familiar with have only a fraction of their complex meaning and history recorded here, and often have added associations with unrelated concepts, particularly male/female gender. Nevertheless, it is an excellent visual guide to a great many symbols. I plan to use it as a starting point to learn about new symbols and where to start when researching them further.

This is now my favourite source and book on symbols. It is a huge book with large pages. What really sets it apart is that so many of the entries are illustrated. The book is also very detailed with lots of interesting historic background and interpretations of the symbols. You can tell Adele did some serious research. I recommend this to anyone interested in symbols or sacred geometry.

No me gusta devolver libros y por eso no lo he hecho, pero ha sido una total decepción. Creía que el libro analizaría y explicaría símbolos en concreto , no conceptos como la naturaleza, los árboles, los animales. Es decir, si estoy buscando el origen y significado de una cruz, una flor o de un animal en particular, deberías ir a un capitulo que esté relacionado con ello y entonces por ejemplo, animales, buscar el animal y ver sus representaciones, el origen de ese signo, distintas formas de representación, etc.No es para nada lo que quería.

I love this book. I use it quite often to reference things.

This is probably not the sort of book you sit and read straight through but more of a 'dipper into'. But either way, it will prove both interesting and informative. My paperback version is large (8"x11") and runs to 400+pages so is a bit hefty for bedtime reading but is worth the effort: the text is both clear and concise with neat accompanying illustrations. I am delighted with this lovely book - a birthday present - and truly enjoy my bouts of 'dipping'. Fully deserving five stars.

This book is way bigger and thicker than I was expecting. Worth every penny. This will be a great reference book that will stay in my library.
