Makes Learning SSIS for SQL Server 2012 Easy!
I'm currently preparing for the SQL Server 70-463 exam using the official MS Press book. When I ran into trouble completing some of the exercises in that book I started looking for alternatives to help me get up to speed with SSIS. I'm so glad I bought this book! It made learning SSIS very easy. The book is divided into 62 small lessons with each designed to teach you one particular aspect of SSIS. Each lesson starts with an overview of the concept to be learned and then has a "Try It" exercise for you to complete. What I especially liked about this format is for each "Try It" exercise you're provided with a lesson requirement, hints, and finally step-by-step. What I did was read through the requirements and hints and then attempted to complete the exercise without following the step-by-step process. This allowed me to try and figure the task out on my own instead of simply following the steps. I'm certain following this approach has greatly enhanced my understanding of SSIS and the components used within it. The last lesson in the book, #62 is one that pulls all of your knowledge together and is one I'll actually implement at work. In it you load multiple source files into the database and maintain an auditlog of files loaded so that you don't load the same file twice. I have a requirement to import web logs into a SQL Server database and this was the perfect lesson for me. I can't wait to implement it.Something that I didn't use too much but should be mentioned is each lesson is also presented in a video format so that if you get really stuck you can watch the video and see how the task is completed. I loaded them all onto my iPad and watch them on the TV using my apple TV. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn SSIS using SQL Server 2012.Review by Zack Jones

The examples are easy and meant for beginners
This book is for an absolute beginner. It makes concepts quite clear for those who are new to SSIS. I will suggest this book only for simple SSIS transactions. However, i wont recomment it for more complex high level stuff you may need to do in SSIS. The examples are easy and meant for beginners. The book has a dvd that helps a lot with understanding various chapters. However, i felt like they should have added more examples for every chapter in the dvd. Overall i would have given this book 4.5 stars if i could. Still a great book though.

This is better than I expected
This is better than I expected. I've built some ssis packages, but always for one time loads, or for a small number of independent text files that were loaded infrequently, so I'd never needed some of the techniques introduced in this tutorial. Generally a good intro to more advanced topics.

A good quick-start/refresher guide for getting up and running quickly with SSIS.

Not worth reading for 70-463 exam
I got my MCDBA in 2002 using SQL Server 2000 and at the time, there was little if any emphasis on data warehousing. So I decided to brush up on my skills and purchased this book. I went through it in about a week (more than 24 hours) and it did introduce me to the subject. I even took a short online exam on SSIS for a job and passed it with an 85% score. But then I decided to take the Microsoft 70-463 exam on Data Warehousing and bought the Microsoft Training Kit. It is far, far superior to this book. It is much more complete, better written, provides sample tests, and gives you a coupon for 15% off on the actual exam. In retrospect, I wish I had not wasted my time on this book, but had gone directly to the Microsoft Training Kit. The Kit can serve as a true reference after the test; this book cannot.

Good
The book is easy to follow up and learn but organized poorly. There are some errors and support file cannot be read by SSIS.

Excellent introduction to SSIS
I had been struggling to get a foothold in the world of SSIS: the previous books I had bought seemed almost impenetrable, and I was starting to think that I would never be able to teach myself how to use this very useful SQL Server application.Almost in desperation I bought the Kindle edition of this book, and I'm very glad I did. It starts with a very high-level overview of SSIS and then, in 60 brief but incredibly useful chapters, takes you through the various components in turn. Each chapter begins with a discussion of the component and then has a hands-on exercise that allows you to try out what you have just learnt. The chapter ends with a step-by-step guide to the exercise, and there's also a video that shows you how it should be done. (The book comes with a DVD, whereas the Kindle edition tells you where to find the videos on the web). I was initially a little sceptical about the usefulness of the videos but they are very helpful and really help to consolidate the new knowledge.Having completed the book (despite the title, it took me about 50 hours over 3 weeks) I am now confident that I can develop SSIS packages and am ready to return to the books I originally bought, which will probably now make sense. :-)

Enjoyable Learning Experience
Successfully passed the 70-463 exam this morning with a 900+ score. I don't have a SSIS 2012 installation at work so set up a virtual one at home and worked closely through this book and the official 70-463 Microsoft Training Kit. Both these books compliment each other and prepare you well for the exam. I would recommend purchasing both books to anyone considering sitting the 70-463 exam, especially if you've had limited prior SSIS hands-on experience. I would love to see these authors write more of these types of trainers.Highly recommended.

Ottimo Manuale
Manuale molto sintetico ed efficace, con tanti esempi, spiega in maniera chiara come sviluppare Integration Services con Sql Server. Come quasi tutti i prodotti della Wrox ne consiglio l'acquisto!
