Visualites #5 Oval Reading Glasses

These are the best readers made...PERIOD. And I've bought a ton over the years.They're light, but very well constructed and extremely comfortable to wear. Superior lens quality.They're almost like small pieces of art with the multitude of infused colors they come in. I got addicted....own seven pairs now, all different colors...I'm a now a "Visualite fashonista". And BTW, the Visualite company is first rate. The very first pair I bought maybe six months ago lost one of the tiny screws that holds the nose bridge to the lens (probably because I put them on and take them off hundred times a day in my work). I contacted Visualite in Calif -- they actually responded to my email the SAME DAY-- to see if they could repair them, but because the glasses were still under the two-year warranty they sent me a brand new pair...along with a cool little repair kit, including the world's smallest screwdriver, for possible future mishaps.Carla, you were super! These will be my reading glasses for life. BRAVO, Visualites!!

Updated after 1-1/2 years of wearing: earpiece broke off at the screw (split at the screw hole so it can't be repaired). Terrific glasses, too bad they're so poorly made. Because of this I changed from 4 to 3 stars. Lovely, very lightweight glasses particularly suitable for smaller faces; they virtually disappear on the face, particularly if you have brownish hair (the brown colored frames). I'd like it if the lenses were a few cm taller as I notice the line made by the top edge of the lens whilst wearing but that isn't a deal-killer. Also, the holder shipped with these is basically unusable as the frames could easily be scratched while being taken into and out of the holder. Even with that, these are fine readers, albeit on the smallish side.

The truth is, these glasses break easily. They are delicately made, and light as a feather, and sometimes I have to screw the screws back in as they tend to back out sometimes on the nose pads, with a spot of superglue to hold them in there better. The reality is, my husband won't wear any other kind. He has several sturdier pairs that sit in the cupboard unused because he hates them. He gets frustrated with these glasses breaking, and then buys other kinds of glasses, and hates them all, and ends up going back to these ones. He's not a delicate man, and he doesn't treat them well, so we find ourselves replacing them every couple months. But these are $20 people, they aren't $100, and it's worth it to have glasses that you actually like to use when you have to cart them around all your life because you can't read anything without them. This is one of those areas in life where it's worth it to spend a little more. I just always keep an extra pair so that when his go belly up (stop leaving them on the couch and then sitting on them, husband!), I have a spare handy and order another spare.

Update on last order in August 2019- There is a irritating scent on these glasses that will not go away even after washing them and it's giving me a headache ! I missed the return window and am so bummed ! These are very light weight and comfortable plus they stay on well and don't slip down my nose like some of the cheaper reading glasses. I tend to be a klutz and frequently drop my glasses which scratches the lens so I tried the cheaper ones and they just don't stay on my face like these do. I like frameless glasses as I can look over them when I'm walking around with them on. These blend well with my face and hair color so they don't stand out too much. Only problem is because they're so light in color, sometimes I can't find them when I put them down somewhere! These are my second pair and will buy then again!

I've had to buy several of these lately (the last couple pair not by choice). 1) Do not drop these glasses in the snow and run over them with a snow blower. 2) Do not drop these glasses on the ground when moving freight, step on them, and run them over with a loaded hand truck. Other than that, they look good, are comfortable, and other than operator error, hold up well. Only 4 stars because one of the last pairs I got had a twisted frame that I couldn't straighten, so I ordered another pair and use the others for back-up.
