Q: How well can you see the lights as the person wearing the goggles?

You'll be aware of the built in lights. It's not shining in your eye, but you can see it in your peripheral. If you mean other people, it's very visible, even on lower brightness settings. The other comment are very correct though. You can see our of them well enough during the day, but it's very difficult to see out of them in dimly lit places or at night.

Q: How visible is the light to the person wearing the goggles? I'm worried about a distracting light in my face the entire time.

It's not bad at all, I can walk around and do things pretty easily with all the modes. If you wear them for a long period of time though you might get a headache!

Q: How do I connect the remote to the goggles? Not working :(

Q: Can they sync to lights nearby?

Although the goggles cannot sync with other lit up objects around you, if you have more than one pair of these goggles, the remote is universal and you can set them to the same pattern at the same time so you are synced up with the other person wearing the same goggles!
