Great product. Easy to use and germinates in the time described.
We moved recently, and the house we moved into had a lawn that needed some work. A portion of the berm and the front yard was dirt, populated by crab grass and clover, and some spots I would mow over would produce big dust clouds. Not enough bald patches to justify getting sod (in my opinion), but too much where simply seeding would likely attract birds and/or create more work (putting down hay, netting, etc.). Like many of you, I work full time, have a family, and simply don't have the time to do all of that and, given weather patterns, can't rely on the weekend to take care of it. I have better things to do.Looking at the product description, it has a mix of Kentucky bluegrass, fescue, and rye, a great mix of both fast growing and hardy seeds perfect for Zone 6 regions, and also contains fertilizer and recycled mulch. I started filling in patchy spots in April (it is July as I write this), but rather than doing every spot that needed to be filled in, I decided to work in sections. Given how the temperatures have been fluctuating so much (NASA actually just reported that June 2023 was the hottest June on record) and I wasn't certain how much rain we would be getting, I didn't want to do a huge section and waste gallons of water on it to get it to germinate, only to have it expire from the heat (despite what the following may suggest, I almost never water the grass. I have no problem letting it go dormant in the summer heat. The key to it surviving/thriving is not to cut it too short. Do that and save yourself some money).Anyway, this is what I did:1. Beginning in the morning and using a hand cultivator, I loosened the soil where I wanted to plant, removing any weeds and crabgrass that might compete for the fertilizer and water, going about 1-2" deep.2. Using a trowel, I scooped the mix in every area I prepped.3. Using the hand cultivator turned upside down, I gently went over the top where I put the patch mix to encourage the seeds, mulch, and fertilizer to go into the soil and spread out.4. I gave it a heavy dose of water ("shower" setting on the nozzle) to completely soak the the area for about 15-30 seconds.5. I did this again in the early evening, watering twice a day for a week (unless we had rain).6. As advertised, the seeds germinated in a week, after which I watered once a day in the morning until the grass matured and could survive without it (about 2 weeks after germinating) and I could give it a haircut. On cooler days I would skip a day.Seeing the results, I'm certain I could have seeded every large area at once and been done by now (I'm still doing areas, I don't begin a new area until the other area I've done is mature enough to not need so much attention. I'm only doing about 1-2sqft at a time, but I'm not in a rush and would rather make sure everything is done right. The grasses I seeded in April look healthy, strong, and have been mowed/mulched several times, without any ill effects (I currently have the mower deck at 2-3/4"). The small patches in the grass itself that I've done are completely indistinguishable from the rest of the lawn. This is a great product and works exactly as advertised. At $20-$26/10lb. bag, it's a decent price and I would recommend it.

Works perfectly!
I use this product to fill in dead grass patches - mainly from walking my dogs. If you follow the instructions carefully and completely, your dead grass patches will be gone.It doesn't grow well in temps above 85; have to water it daily; need to remove dead grass before putting it down.1st shoots will appear in about 10 days. Patch completely filled about 3-4 weeks laterI wish all products worked this well.

Works but takes a wile
I had a big patch next to my house with no grass. So decided to give scot fertilizer a try. I have used different brand fertilizer before to help grow grass in this low sun area and nothing has helped. So am surprised this fertilizer is actually working. After 2 weeks I finally see grass growing its a slow process but am seeing new growth so it works but just slowly. I guess it just depends how big of a bald spot you have to see better results.

Thanks for the weeds and wasting my time
Didn’t cover much of my lawn at all. And in the places I put this I now have goose grass aka weeds and I never had that there before. I had to pull everything I planted since they were all weeds and got zero new grass. I wasted my money and time.

Not a single blade of grass grew.
These seeds come contained in a medium. In fairness to the seed, the failure was likely my fault. I was instructed to sprinkle it after seeding. That was impossible due to the distant locations of my bare spots. The entire following day was characterized by violent gusts. It likely blew the seed, suspended in that nice light weight medium, far and wide. My recommendation, buy the seed and follow instructions.

Only covers about 1/2 as much as claimed on the packaging.
Worked well. I watered twice a day for the best results.I am happy with the product, but please note that it covered only about 1/2 the square footage as claimed on the package. As directed, I thoroughly shook the product first to make sure everything was well mixed. I then cut a small opening in the bag to make the bag into a shaker bag in order to spread the product evenly.

Highly recommend it
Highly recommend it. Works fast and birds won’t eat the seeds

Not impressed with the results
Maybe better to use seed only. Followed instructions . Only small amount of sprouts appeared. Being that this is a mix there's no way of knowing how much seed is in the mix.
