Q: Ok, so i buy my own nas, my own hard drives, set it up on my own network, buy my own cameras, then have to pay for a license key to use it?

Yes, you are paying a licensing fee for the software (many software applications have a cost) and I feel this is worth it. This software is very easy to use, works with many brands of cameras, and the software is very stable. I started out with a dedicated Amcrest NVR which was decent but the stability and intuitiveness of this was worth the upgrade price.

Q: It takes 1-4 weeks to deliver? Isn't it just a code?

it takes only 2 to 3 days to deliveryet, it s a code.

Q: Does this license expire? For example, is this license a 1 year license, then I am required to renew?

Synology has changed their license policy in Surveillance Station Version 8. It used to be that you can migrate your license from one NAS to another. They are now limiting the license migration to only one migration. Really sucks now. Q: How long does it take to receive your license via email after purchase?

You receive an actual license card (delivery) and then you use the code on the card to activate the license.
