Cook a lot of steaks and the temp displayed is Accurate to the doneness of steak (I like rare bf like medium rare) Magnet is strong and this sticks really well onto our fridge, we have a megnetic spide rack on the side of the fridge and I keep this on the fridge out of sight under neath the spice rack. Love the large display. No fuss reading, dont even need my glasses because its large and not blue, yes im very happy the display is red i cannot focus on blue lights even with glasses. (I cant read blue signs either, most cant, blue is the hardest color to get into focus) For me it wipes clean. Love this wonderful meat thermometer.

I have an older temperature probe that has very small numbers that are hard to read. This one is much better. It uses a standard AAA battery that is included and is pre-installed. There is no off/on switch. The device turns on when you open the probe and stays on for about 30 seconds if not in use. This is a good feature to conserve the battery. It has a unique position sensor built in that detects movement and orientation. If you turn the probe upside down the display will also turn so that it is always readable. Any movement of the probe also wakes the display if it is in energy conservation mode. The device has a hole at one end to hang it up or you can just attach it to any ferrous metal and the built-in magnet with hold it in place. There is a lock button and a button on the back to change the units from F to C. The device can be manually calibrated, but mine was very accurate. I really like how rapidly it can detect a change in temperature and how easy it is to read. The only minor issue was that there was no screwdriver in the package as indicated. I plan on using this product when I am cooking as I did with the old one. Overall, the product performs so well that despite missing the screwdriver, is still worthy of 5 stars.
