Q: will this fit on a troy bilt trimmer

No it won't. Echo made a different size shaft on the PAS power head. All Echo attachments are the same size. I used to have a Troy and none of the old attachments fit.

It comes with the pictured guard and a barrier bar, as well as cautionary harness

I haven't tried the "chainsaw discs" but am having excellent results with the Renegade carbide tipped blades (purchased on Amazon) with my Echo PAS 2620 powerhead and brushcutter attachment. I have oak brush that is very hard and very difficult to cut. The Renegade 44 tooth Viper/Hybrid (green) blade cuts through 1" dia. stems like butter. I just ordered the 20 tooth Hawk/Hybrid (Blue) blade, which should be even better for brush cutting. The only down side is the carbide teeth don't do well if you hit rocks. I can't always see them in the areas I'm cutting. That said, I'm very happy with the Renegade; haven't found anything better. I think the chainsaw disc should fit as long as it's 8" dia with a 1" arbor. Good luck.
