Belkin Grip Candy Sheer Case for iPhone 5 / 5S and iPhone SE (Gravel/Black)

In the last few weeks, I've purchased 4 cases and tried out a ton of others at the store. In the end, this was my favorite. It's not perfect, but it's pretty darn close. First and foremost, it's a sleek, slim case that doesn't feel cheap and doesn't skimp on protection. It was the thinnest case I could find that covered all of the edges (I'm not a fan of the snap-on hard plastic shells as I had one come off when my son picked my phone up off the counter and threw it face down for no reason on the tile floor resulting in a few scratches on the screen) and hence protects against most falls. The wake and volume buttons feel great and are raised the exact right amount so they're easy to find. They are actually made out of the same material as the back rather than the sides, and are thinner than the rest of the wall so as to be flexible. Basically, they are as easy to push as the naked buttons. I'm a big fan of TPU cases like this as they slide in and out of the pocket nicely and don't pick up lint or even oil from your fingers. It won't provide quite as much cushion as some other materials in an impact, but the iPhone 5 is pretty tough (and much lighter than its predecessor so less force to dissipate). I'd actually argue that they could make this case even thinner. All of the cutouts are in the correct place (the beveled cutout for the silence switch is especially nice) and there are no sharp or jagged edges, unlike several other cases I tried. The thin lip over the front of the phone protecting it when you lay it on its face is also beveled towards the screen and makes for very comfortable use of the screen. The case is two-tone, but just barely on this version which is basically black on semi-transparent black. It's not as transparent as it's made to look in the stock photos. That's just fine by me. The only flaw I can really complain about is the size of the cutout for the camera/flash. I'm not sure why they made it so large, and it looks slightly odd. It doesn't detract from the rest of the case in any meaningful way. Going forward, I hope Belkin sticks with this same general design, but it would be nice to get a texture on the sides or back, or give us some better color options. I always end up choosing black because it's the only choice that won't embarrass me at work.

That being said, this Belkin case is fantastic. Fits the iPhone 5S perfectly, looks great and slips into my jeans with ease. It is made of TPU, which is rigid enough to retain its shape, yet flexible enough to remove the case easily. Over time, silicone cases can begin to lose their shape, and become loose, TPU cases do not. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a sleek, simple case! The Belkin name used to be at the forefront of quality, but within the past few years their quality has tapered off, and many of their products are nothing more than cheap "knockoff" quality products that they've slapped the Belkin nameplate onto. I was hesitant to purchase this case because of this, but I was pleasantly surprised when I put it on my phone. FYI - The original Apple lightning cable will fit into the connector port at the bottom with this case on. But other brands of cables, those with larger ends, will not fit with this case on. Additionally, I think people sometimes forget that Amazon is a marketplace where anyone can post items for sale, regardless of their authenticity. The seller information is listed right under the item price and stock status. I always check to see if the product is "shipped from and sold by Amazon.com" to ensure that I'm buying products directly from Amazon and not some random person. This provides the assurance that Amazon has worked directly with manufacturers, and the items being sold are genuine.

This might be the best phone case I've ever owned. It fits perfectly around my IPhone 5s. I love the fact that it is very sleek and doesn't make me feel like I have a brick in my pocket. The picture of the case is a little deceiving in that you can't really see through the back of it to see the apple sign. That however doesn't bother me at all. All of the buttons (volume and power) work great with the cover on. Also, all of the holes (for the sound switch, speakers, audio jack, and charge port) are perfectly synced with the phone. The sides cover the screen only slightly. It is enough to provide protection to the front corners of the phone but doesn't impede your fingers from reaching all points of the touch screen. I don't know what the case itself is made of but it doesn't seem to scratch or even show grime or grease when my hands aren't the cleanest. I haven't really dropped my phone since I got the case so I don't know how good of protection it provides. I am assuming that because of its sleek design that it won't provide the absolute best protection. If you're fine with having a bigger phone case then perhaps you should look elsewhere. For me though, I love the slim design and it keeps my phone from getting scratched or dinged. I take really good care of my phone but I hope that if I do drop it, it will be protected. If I do end up dropping my phone, I'll try and remember to update this post.

My iphone 5 case collection is probably in double figures as the search for the perfect case continues. This is the best so far. It's a great fit and feels like part of the phone. It's expensive but so is your iphone. A quality case.
