My daughter reads way more with this Kindle!
My daughter loves this Kindle. Here are a few of the features we are enjoying:Amazon Kids:It was very easy to sign into her already existing Amazon Kids account. There was an offer that came with the purchase for a free subscription to Amazon Kids for x amount of time, which was nice, but it was not clear if that will be applied to our existing account that we pay for. The setup was very minimal and the parental controls can be managed from the parents phone. We chose not to put time limits on her Kindle because the lighting on the screen is like reading a book and I want to encourage her to read as much as she wants.Screen Quality:There is no glare on the screen and the lighting can adjust if you move from a dark room to a lighter room or outside. She also loves that there is a dark mode option so she can read at night without lights on and it does not hurt her eyes.Case:The Kids version of this kindle comes with a case. She chose the starfish option. The case is very colorful and she really enjoys the picture on it. I believe this case will protect the kindle adequately. She has dropped it/had some accidents with it and there has been no damage to the kindle. She was a little bummed that the case did not have a feature to stand it up without holding the Kindle, but she has adjusted to holding it or leaning it against things, so I would say over all it is a good case.Using the Kindle:For the most part the kindle works great! It is very easy to use. She is able to search for any book she can think of and find it. Most of the books she searches are already included in the subscription. The books that are not included seem to be a reasonable price. There has only been one book that she tried to search that we were not able to find. We have had the kindle for about a month and there have been two times that it froze and needed to be restarted, but works fine after the restart, so it has not been an issue. The settings are very easy to get into by clicking the top of the screen and they are user friendly/intuitive. Her books seem to download quickly and they will open immediately after downloading. The battery lasts forever on this thing. She uses it all the time and she just charged it for the second time after a month of having it. I would recommend using the charger that came with the Kindle. I'm not sure what is different about our phone chargers, but they do not work for it. It might be because they are super fast chargers and maybe the kindle can't have that? Not sure...Other:I really feel that this is a great product for getting kids to read more. My daughter has been reading everyday since this was delivered. She has always enjoyed reading, but the amount of time she spends reading has significantly increased! Also, I really enjoy that this is the exact same as my adult Kindle, so I know how to use it!

My daughter reads more!
My daughter has found it so much easier to find books and read! She reads for hours with this Kindle in her hand! Before, she struggled to find the book she needs, because the library didn't have the specific book she needed. Thanks to Kindle, she doesn't have that same problem, and it makes reading much easier! You can easily adjust the lighting however you want it to. At first, you might struggle a bit with the controls, but after a or two, it's really simple and fun! The Kindle was a little smaller than I expected it to be, but that's fine. The covers are really cute, and overall, this Kindle would make your child happy, and I promise- your child will be reading for hours!

My husband told me so.
My husband said I shouldn’t have bought this for our 10 year old as a Christmas present. He said she’d want an iPad and would be grumpy about it. Well. Whatever. So what if he turned out to be right? I love my new kindle. It’s small, lightweight and so easy to use. I love that I can view the free library to listen to an audiobook if I don’t want to read something with my eyeballs! I do have to randomly ask my 10 year old to borrow her beats headphones though to listen to the audio stream… but it’s worth it. Can’t wait to potentially buy this again for another child with a different cover pattern that they also refuse to use because what kids reads anymore, and I can continue to build my own collection from!

WORTH IT
Love this! My last kindle was a keyboard 3 (LOL) and then it was just my phone from there. There is essentially no difference between this and the non-kids version. Screen response time is about 0-1 second delay, but if I'm reading, it really doesn't matter. The battery lasts forever, and the screen is really clear. I LOVE THIS THING. I've been reading so much more now! I love that there's a warmth setting and the fact that you can adjust the warmth and brightness. I'm probably new to the fancy e-reader scene, but this is a great basic. I don't have a need for all the extra things (bc books don't have those anyways!)

Regret ‘upgrade’ - Minor annoyance on otherwise good Tech
E-ink readers are lovely. I traded in an older Paperwhite for this one, mostly looking forward to the increased splash protection for pool side reading. In general, it has all the same great features as older generations. My biggest disappointment is that you need to swipe every time to resume reading your book. Older kindles, whenever you opened the cover, it would automatically return you to your book. Now, with or without ads, you have to swipe to access your book. It definitely is an annoyance when you are having to put your book down and pick it back up several times in a sitting. If you are settled for an extended time, it is a minor inconvenience. The splash protection is nice, but I would have to recommend grabbing an older version if you are more likely to appreciate the immediate readability more.

A Game-Changer for Young Readers!
I recently purchased the Kindle Paperwhite Kids for my 9-year-old, and it’s been an absolute delight! The 7-inch glare-free display is perfect for reading both indoors and outdoors, and the adjustable warm light ensures comfortable reading at night. The device is waterproof, which is a fantastic feature for kids who love to read by the pool or at the beach. With a battery life that lasts up to 12 weeks, it’s incredibly convenient for long trips without worrying about charging. The included 6-month Amazon Kids+ subscription provides access to a vast library of age-appropriate books and audiobooks, fostering a love for reading. The parental controls are intuitive, allowing me to monitor reading progress, set age filters, and even establish bedtimes through the Parent Dashboard. One of the standout features is the 2-year worry-free guarantee—if the device breaks, Amazon replaces it, no questions asked. The kid-friendly case is both durable and appealing, adding an extra layer of protection.
