spent 2 months in a tree and still works great
bought this drone to learn the basics of drone flight. loved it right out of the box. easy to control, easy to learn and easy to fly. camera works great. it’s not professional quality and not mounted on a gimbal but you can’t expect that at this price point. the remote control does a great job of changing the angle of the camera and it all functions great. the camera app was easy to download and figure out. it allows photos and video to be taken. using my smart phone as the viewer helps a lot. wish i had a set of googles but that’s nothing to do with the drone. the remote does a good job of controlling the drone and has a place to mount your cellphone. more range would be great but again at this price what are you expecting. it does a good job and i’ve flown it out of visual site before. it came back fine. it does struggle in wind. best to just keep it away when it’s strong enough to fly a kite. had a great few weeks with it playing and learning. then i had an incident. i took it up to our property to see if i could get an aerial view of the land. it did great going out and flew against the wind. as the remote battery failed the drone veered off course and crashed into a tall pine tree. i couldn’t climb up and couldn’t even tell which tree it was in. i had written this off as i couldn’t climb the tree and couldn’t recover the drone. fast forward 2 months. it’s a really windy day. i go to the base of the trees and actually see the drone sitting upside down on the ground. i couldn’t believe it. i removed the battery. cleaned the corrosion off the contacts and took it inside. i changed remote batteries, charged up the spare battery and took the drone outside. it still works!!! 2 months in a tree and this thing still functions great. i am currently charging the battery that was outside and all appears to be good to go. i can’t believe this drone still functions after all i’ve put it through. i will definitely stick with this company in the future.

Amazing Drone, easy to use right out of the box! My 6 year old loves it!
I had promised a drone for my son for Christmas, but his grandmother got to that first. However, she got a very cheap low-end drone which didn't work out of the box. Fast forward to now, I picked up the HS440 drone for him based on the reviews which were extremely positive, both for the drone itself, as well as for customer service. Out of the box, the drone was extremely easy to set up. Follow the instructions provided, and you'll be good to go. Turn on the drone, then connect your phone to the wireless. Once that's done, power on the controller (when it beeps you know they're talking to each other) then calibrate (both knobs down the right until it beeps) then start the drone by pulling the left controller down to the right, and the right controller down to the left. There is a button to take off and land the drone, and the controllers respond extremely well without being overly sensitive. I'm not going to retype all the instructions here, but suffice to say that in less than 90 seconds out of the box, you'll be flying the HS440 which is extremely easy to do. I suggest that you tap the joystick until the drone moves, then let go. Think of driving a boat in the water, a small movement goes a long way. I can't speak to flying it outdoors yet, but my takeaway from reading the other reviews (and this is pretty common-sensical) is to not fly it outside when there is significant wind. On calm days I can't see this thing being anything other than amazing. As anyone knows, it's one thing to get a quality device, but it's yet another to have someone you can actually talk to about any issues or problems. Holy Stone is front and center with customer support, I can't praise them highly enough. Finally, my son is 6 1/2, and he is loving this thing! Buy this drone, it's a great product with excellent support and a really good pricepoint.

great entry level
A good drone for teens who are interested in the hobby. I bought mine for my daughter who expressed interest in the hobby. Sure, not nearly the level of quality as more expensive units, but good for the price.

Holy Stone HS440 Foldable FPV Drone Look elsewhere.
Holy Stone HS440 Foldable FPV Drone Is not worth buying. I bought two so I could have a spare battery. The cost of buying a spare battery is almost as much as the price of an entire drone, so buying a second drone, battery included made sense to me. The first drone was very unstable and trying to trim it was so difficult tat by the time it did sort of fly correctly the battery was dead. This is flying in ZERO wind with a properly paired and calibrated drone. After landing on its own in the grass, one of the prop motors gave out (stripped gear). Not because the batteries were low but because it decided to just go down. Enter drone number two. For the first few flights the second drone seemed better than the first one. It still took FOREVER to get it trimmed correctly and it never ever hovered without drifting in which ever direction it wants to. Again by the time its trimmed as well as it can be, the battery is close to dead so flight time is a few minutes at best. Now, while it is flying as good as it will get, once you activate the camera in video mode, the drone immediately goes out of trim again and is even more difficult to correct with trimming. I can't figure that out. Trying to take a video is futile. You will never get a smooth stable video with this drone since you are constantly trying to correct its flight or trying to get it to hover in one spot. Your video ends up looking like you were bobbing for apples while recording. Finally after several flights where drone two seemed to work so so, today it decided to start behaving like drone one. It does what it wants when it wants with no regard to commands. Properly paired and calibrated and batteries all fully charged with no indication by the lights or beeps that any batteries were weak. I might add that all of these flights are no further than 25 feet or so in any direction since I don't trust it at further distances, but I digress. Back to today...the drone was acting unstable more so than usual and finally came down from about five feet, into the grass. Sure enough one prop motor, even though it spins, is now stripped (you can hear it as it spins) and the drone will no longer fly without drifting quickly to the left. It's now toast, just like the first one. I don't write negative reviews often, if ever, but this drone is not worth purchasing. Look elsewhere, even if it means paying more. This drone is just not worth the frustration and/or cost. Look for a better quality drone.

This is a toy
I live in Florida and I got this drone to scout ahead on river when I'm kayaking. I don't think it's going to work for that. The main issue with it, I think, is that it is so light. It weights only 166 grams, which puts it below the 250 gram threshold that the FAA requires registration for. So while you don't technically have to register it because of its light weight, that same lack of substance seems to make it very difficult to control. After reading the manual several times I took it out to a big grassy park nearby. I got it off the ground and it took off. I could not bring it back. No matter what I did with the joystick it kept on a straight line moving away from me. I didn't think I'd see it again, but luckily it crash landed a few yards short of a big lake. It probably got far enough away that it lost contact with the controller, which forces it to land. What I learned from that was that it can't fight wind. Not even a light wind. The higher it flies the stronger the wind, so I kept it very low after that. It seemed to have a difficult time hovering, again probably because of the wind. I know there is a trimming setting, but it is really hard to use if you're fighting constantly just to keep it from escaping. If I could have gotten it to reliably hover I might have tried that, but it was constantly moving in the direction or the wind . But the biggest disappointment was the camera. For my earlier flights I was getting no imagery because it was saying the camera wasn't connected, although there was no way to troubleshoot that. After restarting both the drone and the controller I got an image, but not a stream. It registered a closeup shot of grass as it took off and that was all I got--one patch of grass. At least that was something. With practice I got pretty good at bringing it back to me, but it was still very unreliable, losing or gaining altitude for no apparent reason and always moving with the wind. Several times I had to land it and go fetch it because it would not respond to my efforts to recall it. I don't think I'll be able to use it anywhere near water because it can't handle any exposure to moisture and it is extremely difficult to land it in a controlled, accurate way. It's fun to play with, and I'll keep trying to see if I can actually use it for anything other than a toy, but I'm not optimistic.

Lightweight Drone with AMAZING Customer Service
The drone is pretty good--VERY solid for the money. The short version is: be careful flying it in anything more than a light breeze, but understand that the customer service is really stellar. I used to do aerial photography and videography as a hobby with a buddy of mine, and I've used quite a few higher-end commercial drones. I hadn't really done this sort of thing since my kids were born, so I thought I'd try this just to get back into it a bit. I fired the drone up inside and flew it around my house a bit. Setup was easy, the controls were simple, and the device was quite responsive. Long story short I then took the drone outside into a light breeze and when I took it up to altitude to try to get some picture of my house and grounds, the wind carried it away before I could bring it back down. I left a review here stating as much--I didn't directly contact Holy Stone or request a refund or replacement. I've flown drones enough to understand that losing the machine is a risk you always take (we've lost MUCH more expensive machines due to wind or equipment error). But within a day, Holy Stone contacted me and offered me a refund or replacement... and I'm well outside of the replacement window, and I stated that it wasn't manufacturer's defect that caused the loss in the first place. Anyway, seriously, great customer service, and the drone is VERY solid for what it costs. If you're looking for an inexpensive way to get into aerial photography/videography, this is a great place to start. Just, seriously, don't take it up high in strong winds :)

Inexpensive and works amazing!!!!!
I Bought this drone and have been thoroughly enjoying it since. I bought the drone not having flown one ever before but it's easy to learn on, has high and low speeds and I honestly still prefer low for another flying. The drone arrived quickly and is packaged in it's case, which is great and has a really high quality zipper and pretty tough foam. Everything you get is inside with separate compartments for the drone, both batteries, and the controller. Also included in the top half in a zippered mesh enclosure are two USB charging cables for the batteries, a set of propellers, a small screwdriver and the instructions. You'll need to provide your own AAA batteries for the remote, 3 of them, but otherwise the drone and all of it's accessories and more can be stored in a nice case. The camera is about what you'd expect in this price range, streams to your phone when you download the app and connect to the drones Wifi, the feed is choppy at times, but it does make some pretty cool movies for viewing on a cell phone, images are higher quality and I believe 1080p. Camera has a 90° vertical pivot that works smoothly and also allows for cool shots. Actual flying is a ton of fun, the drone is fairly smooth with very little to no lag time between actions on the remote control and the drone, despite being light it does fight wind pretty well, but being as light as it is expect to work to keep it semi stable in any breeze. Drone has Headless mode, which I haven't used much, high speed rotate, which I've never used on purpose, circle, which works well from my limited use, and auto takeoff and landing which works ok but you may not use it rather quickly. I've had the drone up about 80' but always fought wind and living in the woods small mistakes mean crashes into trees. I have personally crashed this drone many, many times, typically catching a branch or leaves from a few feet off the ground, durability is amazing as the drone has largely survived without damage. I have had two large crashes, the first I was roughly 60' up and the winds picked up and I lost sight of the drone, not wanting it to get lost in trees and my neighbors field I hit the emergency shut down, the drone hit a tree branch roughly 40-50' up and then dropped straight down onto compacted gravel. This crash is the only damage visible as it came straight down on one of the propeller arms, crushing the plastic guard and causing the propeller adapter piece to fall out. However, once I picked it up and pushed the propeller back in place, I was able to continue flying with no major issues. Later, I was pushing the battery to it's limit about 60' up and it began auto-landing, a feature of this drone, unfortunately it was near a branch in a tall tree and crashed upside down on a branch. A few days later it fell out of the tree in the wind and caught in a bush 5' off the ground, unharmed.. Overall I'm super happy with the purchase and my only problem is now that I'm sufficient as a pilot I've crashed enough that I damaged the one gearbox and I'm not sure how long it has left. That damage is from me however and if you don't fly as recklessly as I did while learning I think you'll be impressed by the durability, ease of use, and fun offered by this little drone especially for the price

Amazing! 10/5 Stars!
If I could, I would rate this company and product 10/5 stars! I love it! Holy-Stone's customer support went above and beyond by sending me a replacement drone when my original one had camera issues, and gave me a ton of suggestions on how to fix it. When non of the suggestions worked, they kindly sent me a new drone for free. I really appreciate it. The new drone arrived in only 2 days, and worked perfectly on the first try! Flying the drone is pretty simple once you practice a bit, but I don't recommend flying indoors. The drone can handle impressively large wind speeds with no problem, and it hovers perfectly with no wind. The low speed on the controller is useful if you are in a large indoor area, or it is perfectly calm outside. I use high speed the entire time, in case a large wind gust comes and tries to blow the drone away. Also when in high speed mode, the drone is pretty fast. You can definitely speed away from something if required. Overall this drone really impresses me. It folds nicely and fits into its case without any problems. It is very portable and takes under 30 seconds to set up. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants a slightly complex drone to learn about, fly around, and take nice photos and videos.
